When do you take another job? When do you fire someone?
I'm taking my last macroeconomics course before graduation. According to classical theory of labor market, wages change without rigidity, people change jobs when being offered even a marginally better wage, employers fire staff during bad times etc. You may have heard of "Invisible hand". In 80's one economist suggested an "invisible handshake" as a driving force behind labor market instead of "invisible hand". This means there are unwritten rules in employment, such as, for example, employers stay loyal to their current employee even if getting offered 10% better wage in another firm.
How do you personally feel? As an employee, would you change your job to naother firm if given a 5% raise in salary? How about 50% raise? As an employer, facing bad times, do you fire your employee immediately, or would you wait for six months, or two years? Since this is an adult webmaster board, let's make one more question. If you could use your skills in another business instead of having your porn business, would you change your job for 10% better income. How about 50%? |

I worked in the medical industry for 22 years before I retired to be a 'homemaker'. Pretty much the only way to get a raise was to change jobs. In 22 years I worked for the same people over and over again, changing jobs back and forth has salary and beni's were offered. Always seemed kinda silly to me. but...
If i stayed with company A, I would get a .10 (10 cents! a dime!) raise a year. If, however I went to company B, then returned, my raise could be as much as $5 per hour more. Would I do it. HELL YES |
