You mean you hit 1 button, twist zero lenses and it takes the pic?

And does so like.. push, click the picture is there... not:

stay away from the sony cybershot cw series. They are sloooooooowwwww, and because of the flash being so close to the lens, it's almost impossible not to get redeye unless you are in broad daylight.

Yeah, in fact that's the main marketing point they use when pushing the cam.

I've found that the newer Canon Powershot cameras in the SD line are fairly fast.

But nothing compares to the instant gratification of a dSLR, even an entry model like the Canon digital rebel xti.

I couldn't live with just one camera. If the budget allows for two cameras, get one of the inexpensive dSLR's with the cheap but adequate kit lens, and then also get a compact one like the Canon SD1000 (tiny) or the SD870 (larger, with wide angle).

There are two problems I keep reading with it. Lack of lenses and only 3 focus points.

Anyone got shots of something with this camera?

Unless you're planning on zooming into jpegs and viewing them pixel by pixel at 100% you're probably not going to see much difference in image quality between the Canon and Nikon DSLR lineup.

3 focus points on a DSLR does sound limiting. Even my low end Canon 350D has 7, and I think the latest 400D which replaced it has 9. With fewer points you may run into situations where it focuses on the wrong subject (which may only be a minor thing), or worse it cannot find anything under its 3 sensors to focus on and gives up.

I have not replaced my Kodak for the simple reason that I can not find a camera with a faster response time.

I hate those cameras that don't allow you to take candid shots.

A snapper needs a compact lightweight camera that never makes them say ?I won?t take the camera it?s too bulky?

Canon IXUS 960 IS

Fast cycle time (same with flash active), excellent screen, excellent picture quality, good auto focus + image stabilisation and very user friendly.

Ugghhh.. I am so not looking forward to this...

I am looking at the Nikon D40x and it looks great. But I think the bulkiness will be a turn off for her. Plus she will see it as a BIG thing and not something you can lug around and quickly grab a shot.

As for the smaller cameras... They are all so fucking similar...

But my main focus was on the shots being good with a very short time passing between the click of the button and the flash and shot being taken.

So... Can you people tell me more specifically how long that time is?
