any gfy snowboarders in the house?

i was thinking about buying a board, boots, bindings, and all that good stuff. but i thought id ask around before i went out and bought a bunch of shit that isn't going to be any good for me.

so what im trying to find out is what size board should i get and what brand equipment is best to buy and what to look out for? a little about myself im 6'3" 180lbs and id probably want an all around good board that would be good for doing just about anything on a mountain, any suggestions?

so like i said any gfy snowboarders in the house?!! help a mofo out! haha

I'm at Whistler right now for the next week

A board can be a very personal thing, you should try to rent a bunch first and see what you like.

First of all you need to know what kind of board you want. Freestyle? Freeride? they are different. My guess is you want a freeride board. They are a bit longer and don't have identical nose/tail.

You might want to take a lesson and rent before committing yourself. Or borrow a board from a friend.

I'm not very up to date with the scene, but here a few brands i remember from the top of my head:

        boots: 32, burton, vans
        board: burton, ride, forum
        bindings: burton, ride, forum

A girl once told me "Give me 8 inches and make it HURT".

So, I fucked her twice and hit her with a brick.

Flows don't get enough credit... Pretty much any board you pick up will work, but Flows are hands down the best bindings on the market (for the average all around rider)

Illuminati boards are sick... Same with the bindings.

But seriously, just go to a snowboard shop and have someone there size you up and figure out exactly what you need. Thats going to be your best bet really.

i've been boarding a few times its just been a couple years and i plan to get on the slopes a bunch this winter as im moving closer to the mountains. last i remember i used boards that had identical nost/tails on them and it seemed to work out well for me.

i was just under the impression if your height had something to do with the length of your board. if thats not the case then i guess ill just go to the store and check out some boards and see what looks good to me.

thanks for the help guys if anyone else has a suggestion shoot it in here.

Its more your weight, than your height. But like I said before, I would recommend hitting a snowboard shop and talking to some knowledgeable sales people.

Libtech Jamie Lynn 157w with Ride bindings. I've ridden a ton of boards and this has been the best setup and should be great for what you want.
