Do any affiliates actually buy content to promote sponsors these days?

I remember shopping for content so that I had something to promote sponsors. Using sponsor content was considered a no-no by most places you would submit so you had to do it. Does anybody still do it or has reality sites with content specific to their sites killed off that practice?

I own a ton of content and I will use it to get SE traffic and to build AVS sites rather than promoting sponsors these days.

lots of sponsors don't even allowed to get promoted by other content...its "deceiving" the surfer in assuming he will see something in the members area thats not there.

i think i very very rarely have affiliates as clients - more program owners or - as you said - people that build avs sites or stuff like that. and a lot of phone sex girls that need profile pics ;)

When i used to be affiliate 7 years ago, free sponsor content didn't even exist, lol
so yes i used to buy a lot of content, but it seems that now a days program owners doesn't alow affiliates to promote their paysites with bought content...which is DAMN stupid if u ask me..as every sponsor content is way to much saturated.

well - actually i charge extra if sponsors want to use the content as free affiliate content - and 2257 does not make it easier too.

I was until recently for AVS and free sites but stopped probably last year - realised I was wasting my money.

I haven't had to buy content for galleries and such things for a long time. Just last week I made a content purchase for a landing page, which was the first time in probably 3-4 years that I have paid for content.

why bother, maybe for an avs you own, but why would you buy content for a reality site that has nothing to do with the content purchased.

just get members access and cut your own content

Same here and if you could get the sponsor content it would be more or less the same stuff you could buy but with their stamp on it.

'way back' sites were more general and people couldn't be as picky..so if you were promoting a mature site, for example, you would get mature pics and use that as a launching point to shift them to a mature paysite.

I've never, EVER, seen a TOS not allowing the use of other content.

We have one deal in place where we licensed free live stream and some content for upselling our complete live feeds program and content library - it works surprisingly well.

Maybe due to the spontaneous feel of the content, where you can feel the difference to content made with actors.. so the surfers realize that and are then looking for more.

I still buy plenty of content and use it to create custom promo materials exclusive to me.

I don't push any reality sites though. I push programs like Maxcash, Wegcash, ARS, Hustler, Vivid etc..

The biggest pain with buying content today is making sure it's all 2257 compliant. A lot of content suppliers say all there stuff is compliant, but then when u get the documents some are grainy, hard to read, wrong mismatched docs etc.. So you have to be VERY careful and go through each set making sure there are no errors. They will always replace the bad sets no problem, but you need to be diligant in catching the error sets.

I use my content to literally build ALL my promo material I use. Nothing comes from my sponsors.

Why on earth would any affiliate buy content these days, there's so much out there. And secondly you'd be showing content which wasn't from your sponsor, so it's deceiving the surfer of the real product offering, against the T&C of most programs for starters.

It isn't deceiving unless you are telling them they can find that content in the site. If you simply have a banner or a text link to a (again just as an example) mature paysite on a page that shows pictures of a mature woman than all it really is doing is acting as another filter.

What programs won't let you put their banners or links on a page that has content on it that isn't from their site but also doesn't claim to be from their site? Any tgp that runs pics on their main page other than that of a sponsor they have as a banner placement would be in trouble then.

Regardless, I wasn't saying it should be done but was more harping back to how it used to be done and wondering if some people were still doing it that way.

Buy pictures of a MILF, make a MILF Gallery, make your advertising "If you like MILFs, see more great MILFs at ABC.com", pretty simple concept. They clicked the gallery because it probably had MILF in the description, they like MILFs, they want to see more MILFs...

I chatted it up with an affiliate of ours who was doing exactly that a few months ago.

I was surprised to see it in this day and age, myself.

By the end of the convo, I had him hooked up with all the content he needed to not have to worry about purchasing any again in an effort of promoting us.... so I'm not sure if he's doing it any more...

But he was as recent as 3 months ago.

I have yet to find a decent producer that can give me reasonably priced content in the teen niche with girls that actually look 18... not 30... if anyone actually knows of any, they must be good as hell, because I haven't heard or seen one yet... hit me up if you know what i'm talking about..

Oh and for those who think i'm talking about underage content, go blow your brains out please.

I still buy content to promote all the "cookie cutter" sites lots of programs still have... but then again, I'm "old school" and actually work for a living...

Nothing wrong with old school when the paychecks are coming in.

I know that I do a lot of my stuff by hand ...I never used any autosubmitters, hand write all my blog posts, etc simply because of when I started in the biz and the not trusting anything 'auto' to not get me banned somewhere.

As a content broker I can say for sure that people do buy content to use for promoting other sponsors.

one of the biggest mistakes I made this year was to build 200+ blogs with mostly sponsors' content even though I have at leasts 5-6 DVDs full of pics and movies I have purchased, now about 60% of the sponsors went to shit but I can't remove links or banners and replace with different sponsor

when building sites from now on I'll use only conten I've purchased + the banners/links/ads will be pulled from a text file - that gives me the ability to change the ads on say 50 blogs in less than a second
