my boyfriend is a doctor (resident) and he gets free insurance and since we've been datting for a while i got to be added to his.

High Deductible plan + HSA = works for me.

I almost wish all health plans in the US were similar.. Would stop the retarded stuff you get when you have the employer (or state! christ.) sponsored plans that cover 100% of everything, or a very low ($10-20) co-pay. Was just talking to someone today who went to the doctor to have a splinter removed. What the hell? $150 charged to insurance just because "my doctor visits are free!". If people had to pay what it cost for things like that, you'd see a dramatic slowdown in the retardation.

No perfect solution I suppose though.

Nope, I don't have medical insurance. It really sucks too, cause without it, most doctors/medical clinics won't even see me, and I can't even convince my own doctor to run anything more than basic tests without insurance.

My mistake was that I waited until I needed it before searching for a plan. If you aren't healthy when you apply, that changes everything. Don't wait until you need it before getting health insurance!!!

I have a great insurance plan through United Health. But people like my father inlaw who are on medicare and have had to signup for one of these new health plans are screwed.

While I was at a dinner at Internext he had an accident and started bleeding from his nose, and eyes... The county ambulance didn't want to take him to the hospital, we needed to get a private ambulance($500) or take him ourselves. They gave him a prescription at the hospital and the medicine wasn't covered as the Emergency doctor was not on the list to perscribe medicine for his plan... $15.00 a pill..

He is fine now... But I would hate to be old in this country and be on one of these plans...
