Anyone self employed moved to Australia?

Anyone running his business from home has moved to Australia? If yes, what kind of visa did you get? How was your experience? Autralia has nice weather, beaches and overall seems like a nice place to live! Any experience you can share regarding this topic would be appreciated

Bring lots and lots of bottled water with you (i.e. droughts).

Toe hee.

i looked alot into this. It costs like $2000 to even APPLY for a permanent resident visa.

The easiest thing to do is get a work visa, have some business owner claim you worked 3 months for them, re-apply for a second visa for another year. After that you're hooped.

Not worried about paying whatever it costs to apply for the visa either. But I wonder what kind of visa I can apply for as a business owner working from home alone. I wouldn't hire people and I wouldn't work for someone else.

Basically, it's just me and my laptop, that's it. Just like many self-employed webmasters working online, I can work from anywhere alone. I have read many australian sites explaining different visa options, but nothing seems to fit for my specific situation. Money is not a problem, I could invest money over there or buy a condo if that could help in any way.

I heard you (including self-employed webmasters) have to pay tax on foreign income as well.

Do you have a grandparent that is from another country? You can often get dual citizenship with some countries if you do.

There are thousands of self employed webmasters around here, I figured there must be a few that moved to Australia?

Try New Zealand.

They have a 5 year tax moratorium on taxes on ALL internet income for new internet business immigrants.

Besides, we don't want you here.

Not enough water.

Then move to Australia from NZ, (the drought might be over by then) but PLEASE turn out the lights before you go.

I thought it was 4 years? Anyway, if I was single, I'd already be over there. I was still tossing up some fun ideas like a cycle of spending 3 months, 3 months in NZ, but since everything would be duplicated in both cities it would probably wipe out any financial benefit. I don't think my wife would like it either.

Why LIVE in Australia? Why not just "visit" for a few weeks, then go to New Zealand for a few, etc.... globe hop and enjoy yourself...

I agree. If you're single and unattached then I think it's good to move around a bit before you decide where to settle.

There's little point looking at pics of places taken by professional photographers on pages written by professional marketers who are trying to sell you a service to make a profit. Experience the lifestyle for yourself.

Do they have a city similar to Sydney? A big cosmopolitan city with several surf beaches?

Actually I have read that it is easier to get into New Zealand. Then moving to Aussie is a snap.

If any webmaster did it here, that would be interesting to know how it was done.

Here's some information on the tax thing in New Zealand.

http://www.buddlefindlay.com/upload/..._exemption.pdf

It's pretty clear cut, you don't pay tax on foreign sourced income for 4 years. The only issue is getting a visa to live here, which is on a points system, but isn't too hard if you're young and have a degree.

If anyone wants to ask me questions about NZ icq: 739765
