do you really believe that?

remember - there IS death penalty in the US

Shagbunny 12-02-2007 02:45 PM

i'm against the death penalty but i also don't think serious crimes should have any "luxuries" in their cell like TVs, magazines, radios, internet.. fuck them, let them rot and pay for the crime

Here are some reasons why to support the death penalty:
1. Why waste $ and resources on sustaining the somebody that will never get out of prison or be a productive member of society.

poor management of prisons is hardly a reason to execute someone. Prisoners are basically slaves, if you cant turn a profit from slaves then you have some problems :)

that doesn't seem to be working very well so far.

3. Eliminate jail/prison overcrowding so that we can lockup less violent criminals to serve their debt to society.

that can be solved without killing people.

I'm all for eye for an eye

I wasn't making an argument. I was responding to someone else's argument that it costs a lot to hold someone in prison for life. I'm also fully aware that the expense is not in the execution but in the appeals process. It doesn't change the reality.

Jarmusch 12-02-2007 02:58 PM

I'm undecided.

However I'll support it if they bring back the chair.

digifan 12-02-2007 03:02 PM

good point

Doctor Dre 12-02-2007 03:06 PM

I feel that when someone is convinced for 25+ years, it should be their choice if they wanna live or save the burden they cost to society for all this time.

liqqwid 12-02-2007 03:09 PM

Im undecided because the principles on the convictions are sketchy at best, a little unfair at times, and sometimes justice really isn't justice...

You also would have a trap door covering the whole bottom of their cell, so if they quit pedaling for a certain amount of time the doors would open and they would fall into a pit of hungry crocodiles.

I think turning Death Row into a parts house would be the best idea.

Same. So many reasons to be against it. Some have innocently been killed, revenge solves nothing, it costs tax payers way too much, work prisons would be more of a deterrent, etc.

Yep, and please re-instate chain gangs and other services. Make 'em work while in prison to give back to the rest of the world. That's a workforce that needs to be tapped again.

thats also a reasonable alternative perhaps , although doesn't help the victims much

And the other one? It's happened and you know it has. I'm not blaming anyone, just saying the system isn't perfect and it HAS happened and it WILL happen again.

minusonebit 12-02-2007 04:06 PM

Nope, no support here.

BlondeBecks 12-02-2007 04:12 PM

I would like child molesters to be given the death penalty too!!!

Varius 12-02-2007 06:32 PM

Completely for it.

However they should not give them years sitting on death row, they should be executed immediately upon being sentenced.

Too many people in the world anyhow. :2 cents:

Works for me.
