Most equipment choices are personal. So I won't argue, but I have an extensive set of All Clad including several non sticks and I love them. I have the stainless set and I've thrown out everything I owned previous and replaced it with All Clad.

The only non All Clad stuff I have or would get is Le Creuset.

i don't know where you live. but generally any city with more than 3 restaraunts has a restaraunt supply store. they are a gold mine.

some of them require a membership fee, but they tend to carry the most diverse selections of products.

bed, bath, and beyond will do you good in a pinch though.

No problem, brother.

Depends on how many you want to cook for. You'll need doubles of a lot of stuff.

True, but if you throw something good together and bring it over it's a sure panty dropper. So there's ups and downs.

Don't forget to buy some decent cookbooks. Like anything else these are personal choice as well. I'd say avoid those that are merely recipes. Learn why things do what they do so you can improvise.

seeric 12-02-2007 03:39 PM

i have all the gordon ramsay dvds. that guy pretty much rules. i've always had a knack for cooking. my high school yearbook even has my ambition as i wanted to be a chef in a five star restaurant. just one of those things that comes naturally to me. i love food, even though people think i don't eat it because i am thin, i appreciate great food like the next person.

As much as I like to disagree with people for no good reason, you are right. He's OCD about food and has the skills and Michelin stars to back it up.

jimmy-3-way 12-02-2007 04:01 PM

This is a must have, as well, though.

you'll like em, check em out at a retail store and then buy em online for way cheaper

I second calphalon. I have had mine a couple of years and love it. Only down fall is it is not dishwasher safe so I have to wash it by hand.
