One of the kids I tutor had a friend who celebrated her 16th on one of the episodes...
He confirmed that most of it's faked. MTV picks up the tab on about half of the ordeal, and most of the time, the "car" goes right back to the dealership after the performance. That pretty much sums up half of the problem with 'reality' T.V. right there, imho.
