Sony is smart ... the bought disney off ... so Disney is Bluray exclusive ... and i am sure they will do that with more studios. I expect Bluray to end up winning this. Plus the spiffy blue boxes are prettier LOL

Blu-Ray dominates by far, I recommend you get a PS3 because you can play all your favorite Blu-Ray movies AND if you can't find the movie on Blu-Ray hitup TorrentScan and find the HD movie you want (720p or 1080p), DL it and play it on the PS3 (No HD-DVD player can do that). Play HD-DVD mpeg's on the PS3, so you never miss any movie.
The PS3 has one of the most powerful video players and most people don't use it to their full potential.
It's so easy to do

Didn't HD-DVD just buy off Paramount? Well at least for 15 more months. Disney wasn't bought off they just went with the technology that was the best.Comment

A few of the "exclusives" that they have have already started putting discs out on HDDVD format. If anything, it's going to go that route.Comment

There are no Disney movies in HD-DVD format.
Actually there are 750,000 HD-DVD players. This includes the XBOX 360 add-on. Not 1 million.HDDVD have sold over 1 million standalone players. BluRay is at about 220,000. BUT add in 3.5 million PS3 and they've got the lead.
BluRay discs outsell HDDVD discs by about 2:1.Comment

I think Bluray is ahead ...$9.95/month for 15000 GB bandwidth monthly, unlimited (sub)domains and MySQL5, PHP4/5, 500 GB disk storage!

A coworker bought a Toshiba A2 at Walmart last month.
I wouldn't be surprised if both formats stay around for a while. Betamax survived for approximately 13 years? Especially if dual-format drives become affordable by the masses.
And Disney may help Blu-ray sales, but which format is the porn industry going with?

I think after xmas there will many more hd dvd players, consumers pressure will create a winner. They are much cheaper, I got a toshiba as a early xmas gift. The uprez on it is amazing, they make standard dvd's look wonderful.Beta was a better format but vhs was more affordable. More affordable always wins.Comment

Not so the biggest group are baby boomers, who arent the most tech friendly. Thats why DVD sales had there greatest sales year last year, they arent going to embrace technology the way we do. I still get calls from older family members how to use amazon.com. lolComment

CONTENT wins you SHOULD now this being n this biz. So what you are sayng if a third company came out with a HD-dvd type disc and a player that cost $50 but didn't have any content for it people would still buy it because it's cheap?
I think people that buy a hi def player want, no matter how much or little it cost them, is to have SOMETHING to watch on it.Comment

I think for this it like be different. In porn we are all in the same format so content is what matters. If after xmas the hd dvd player owners out number the blu ray by 10 to 1 there will be pressure for more hd dvd's. Joe customer will go into blockbuster and when he sees very few hd dvd's he will complain and leave enough of them do that, blockbuster will then say we need more hd dvd's.CONTENT wins you SHOULD now this being n this biz.
