What fucking Antivirus do you use?

Its been a goddamn decade and I never found an intelligent Antivirus .. Have been using Norton, avast and some others .. but never get fully satisfied.

Today I purchased Nod32 .. lets see what it is up to.

What AV do you use? And why? .. Some says Kaspersky is good .. what you say?

there's only one antivirus that has passed every single test conducted within last 15 years with 100% success rate - AVG.

Evidently that test included "What is your name?", and "Today's Date."

AVG 6 was fucking awful; even AntiVir had a better hit rate. It almost trailed McAffee.

The only truly intelligent one was 'Thunderbyte', but it's been gone for years. It'd actually segment off your computer into a virtual vm86 and run test cases on the code while watching for interrupts to be revectored. Practical upshot: It found everything.

It was pretty awesome.

I have that same problem with Kaspersky, but it always catches things the other programs miss. I need top figure out how to tweak the settings to not make downloads take so long, though. Do you have the same problem with it?

Haven't had a problem with AVG. And it's free.

Sometimes I fix people's computers and as soon as I see anything made by Norton I uninstall it. That shit is horrible. Most of the time that is what is causing their computers to be so slow.

May be because those Russians release the virus definition first and spread the virus after that?

AVG has been great for me 3 years. Haven't had a virus...and the best thing about it is that I don't notice it's there. Mcaffe and all the other big ones hog your system and basically fucking bloatware.

There is NO reason in the world to use Windows. If you are a designer use Mac, if you are everything else use Linux (Ubuntu or Suse). If you really really really really really really really really really need windows, I've heard Kaspersky is very good.

Windows is the most practical and affordable platform for me even with the threat of viruses. I and my employees use up to seven computers right now for normal business stuff, plus high definition video editing and video encoding, photo editing and graphic design work, flash work, DVD authoring and other things. Most of this software won't work on Linux and I am not willing to spend boatloads of money and lots of time learning new software to switch to Mac at this point. So there is one reason to use Windows!

In any case, I like Avast Anti-Virus. It just caught a virus that was lying dormant in the restore partition on the laptop that I use for email and icq.

I've been using NOD32 for a couple of years now and I love it. It doesn't eat up a lot of system resources and it's great at detecting, no problems yet running it.

The nice thing is that they're always updating their definitions, it seems like it's almost every day which shows that they're on the ball there.
