ok I tired the boston board and they had no idea.so your turn.

any thoughts on cj's new problem
Yesterday he came in and there was blood over his good eye.I figured it maybe the Elizabethan collar rubbing the wrong way. So I take it off clean it up put some triple antibiotic on it. Then I realize he also has it on the bottom of his face ,on his nose and in the folds of his face by his good eye. Could it be a rash from the meds, he is clavamox and previcox and gena something drops. Im taking him to the vet tomorrow. attached is a pic of it

his pic before petsmart fucked my baby up

So it is an infection? Not a chance that he is rubbing it on something accidentally?

There's a 24/7 vet on 41 in Cobb County. Give them a call. If it's something that needs to be treated ASAP, take him in. You might be able to email the picture.

Could he have eaten something in your yard? Isn't there some kind of frog or something that dogs can eat that can make them really sick? I thought I read about it on the ASPCA website once...

Im no vet but if thats a reaction to meds stop using them and get him to a 24 hour vet immediately. Poor little bugger looks like he's in a bad way.

Funny, but my brother recently had an allergic reaction to meds. It caused his blood platelet level to drop to almost nothing, he suddenly broke out in open, bleeding sores and he started to bleed from his eyes and mouth. Thought he was going to die.

I guess his blood could no longer clot so that is why all these sores were opening up. If he would have taken a good blow to the head he would have bled to death internally.

Had to have multiple platelet transfusions and they also put him on some sort of steroid after he got out of the hospital.

Anyways, just thought I would mention that since there's a very good chance your dog is having an allergic reaction to meds.

I spoke to my friend who is a vet tech, she said its probably a reaction and to bring him in the morning which Im going to do. She asked if he is eating and his usually self he is, he just looks like he has been playing with a meat grinder. My vet opens early at 7am and doc are in at 8am I will be there at 8 sharp. If its drugs hopefully there are other options or maybe his eye is as good as its gonna get and he can be off of them 3 weeks is a long time.

I suspect it is a fungus of some sort.

Think Athlete's Foot as a reference.

Probably annoying as hell to him, but not particularly dangerous.

Look forward to hearing the vet's answer, though I am sure he will be just fine.

Awwww pooor doogy!! I laughed when you wrote he has to be watched because he eats shit. Dont you just fucking hate that!!! I am sure my dog thinks cat poo is a delicacy!

Anyways that looks like a reaction to either the meds or something he is eating. In my humble opinion anyways. Also is that glaucoma I see ?

Hope he is ok Tony and keep us posted

Well got back from the doc, its a autoimmune problem so he is now on zeniquin
atopica and clavamox. He said his eye is probably as good as its going to be, so no more pain pills for him but watch him. Its like the $100 a week at the vet club lately. lol

When we revisit in 10 days we shall see.I hope not for two reasons first I dont think having a small dog take all these drugs longterm is good for him in the long run and secondly it would be another 65 a month on top all the others things he takes.

it looks like either an allergic reaction or possibly demodex. Pets can get demodectic mange any time their immune system is weakened, so might want to check for that also.

Also I would stear clear of Petsmart for vets. I've rarely heard good reviews, more horror stories for sure.

Have you changed laundry detergent or cleaning products around the house?? Anything like that can cause that.

Cj has cushings disease, a tumor in his lymph nodes about the size of a golf ball and we were just finishing up a cornea ulcer that erupted which left the eye blind. All these things together have lowered his resistance so he got this, its bacterial caused by a weakened autoimmune system it seems after reading what one of the new drugs do. The funny thing is he is a very lively active dog. A couple of weeks ago we took the three of them for almost a mile walk at this park here. When we got home the two healthy ones went right to sleep and he was still looking to go. The little old bastard has a will to live ive never seen.

He has a quality of life,he is very active and he isnt in pain in fact he was taken off all pain meds today. He has a appetite of a horse. He just needs meds, when tumor becomes a problem then it will be time. Until that happens its not a option. I found somewhere online some vet forum a rating test for putting a dog down he is not even close to that.

update had to take him back to the vet, the vet made a mistake its red mange. His immune system is very fucked up. The way he eats and bounces around you would never knowit. So we have to see the doctor in two weeks, we got new drugs and have to clean his wounds twice a day. This is getting very stressful.

CJ update :

Its been tough but getting better. It's been the week from hell, he would be up all night. So Im got about 4 hrs a night. Meds three different times a day and cleaning wounds twice a day. The mange is a evil thing, skin just kept breaking bleeding. He really looked like he had been set on fire(see pic).Today its finally starting to heal so its paying off.
