The only thing I disagree with so far is them perhaps identifying him. We all know who it is driving the car of course, but as far as the media knows, they don't have an idea yet. In your first sentence you suggest he is JUST doing his job.
Second sentence you condemn (sorta) the station researchers and news staff for doing THEIR jobs.
This is big news right now in that area. Sad maybe, but that's not the debate. They went an extra mile (probably not at 219) to check him out and tried to scoop the other stations and media. I think they are also doing their jobs.

I didn't condemn at all. Whomever it was called the TV guy a dweeb and I asked why?? because he was doing his job covering the news? no reason to call him a dweeb for that.
My only thought is naming someone on television before they get their day in court per se. You can be tried and crucified in the court of public opinion well before you even get to a regular court. As I said, we all know who the car belongs to, but when you listen to the TV stations, they are still doing their research. I always flinch when they announce someone's name earlier than they really should. That was all. Thx for the callout though, hopefully I explained a little better this time.
I looked at the Arizona laws to see what the possibilities are... there are maximum fines (like $750 from what I read)... it's the severity of the charge that may make jail time a possibility.ICQ: 370 037 008Comment

The media in Phoenix will certainly throw anyone under the bus to get their story and they don't care who they fuck doing it.
Just like when they showed up at his front door with camera crew in tote wanting answers.
This sucks for him, that is for sure.

That road was/is busier than I thought it was after reading the thread. I think the section of freeway he was on may have been a newly opened freeway. It may have been closed for a new rubberized surface and just opened back up. The 202 runs for a long distance. Check it out, I hit up the Arizona DPS media relations dept. for a statement (as a reporter). They responded in about two minutes. Here's the response:
So apparently they are taking it seriously, it's not media hype...and apparently they are on to something they think is prosecutable. Another point of interest is the word "crime" a criminal investigation can only be for a misdemeanor and above, violations are a civil investigation. So, they are clearly looking for a reckless endangerment or reckless driving charge here. Damn that sucks!Ray: I can only confirm that it is an on-going criminal investigation. This is the dumbest thing (or close) I have ever seen. IMHO they guy had to prove how big his balls were and it's backfiring on him. Funny how all of a sudden he has nothing to say when the news and cops come around. Wouldn't it be funnier if they confiscated his lambo and started using it for prositution stings.

Well being a speed junkie myself. I have to admit that is impressive, although very careless and reckless. Glad no one was hurt!FTVRob and his 2008 Lamborghini Murcialgo LP640 set a speed record going 219mph
He found that road I was looking for. Mostly stright line for miles, rubberized asphalt, smooth...
He honestly didn't expect more than 207-210 at the most optimistic level... But take a look for yourself, he buried the needle to the 220mph mark. :o

He is driving like an asshole. Anything could have happend... he could have had a blow out... his car go flying ...at that speed, he'd have no chance and could have taken anyone with him.
