Just watching ZZ Top Live at Rockpalast (1980) (PIC)

First time ever in Europe (Essen Germany 1980)..

I seriously recommend this concert, especially to those who have ZZ connected mainly with their 80's era. This is the all original ass kicking southern rock..

Live = evidence of what a great trio they are!

Billy Gibbons has some of the most recognizable guitar sound in the history, very underrated player btw - great feeling.

Dusty Hill has a real soulful voice, puts a great drive in his bass lines to support Frank Beard - beating it like a clockwork.

I wish to get to see them live soon!

think about that

That's a very tough question to answer, they had a great streak of albums in the 70's (Rio Grande Mud, Tres Hombres, Fandango, Deguello) - I personally still like the most probably "Rhytmeen" from 1996 - it's a very heavy blues rock though, not showing their softer side such as one of my all time favourite ballads "Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell" from "Rio Grande Mud" (1972)...

Well "Deguello" (1979) might be a good choice after all - lots of material played at this concert as well..

My uncle used to play the drums for their roadie who started his own band Jay Boy Adams...you may have had a chance to see them open for ZZ Top.

They went on to open for Joe Cocker, played Carnegie Hall, in Montreux at either the pop or blues festival don't recall...tons of places.
