Floyd Mayweather has stepped up his war of words with Ricky Hatton by claiming to be the greatest boxer ever.
The unbeaten American welterweight insists he is even better than legends Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali.

The 30-year-old, who fights Hatton in Las Vegas on 8 December, said: "I can quit today and be known as the best fighter that ever lived.

"I respect what Robinson and Ali did for the sport. But I am the greatest, and this is my time."

Mayweather has ran in most of his contests. Resorting to jabbing his way to victory and dancing around the ring making the fights boring and dull.

He's never shown the ability or heart to stand toe to toe with anyone...

Mayweather nearly lost to an old De la hoya .. Mayweather hasnt faced any GREAT boxers still in their prime yet.. Id like to see him fight either Cotto or Ronald Wright.. Arthur Abraham if they can fight at 154 would certainly be something to see also.. Him fighting tiny Ricky Hatton is a joke..

That De La Hoya fight sucked. At least Oscar was trying to finish the fight. Walking in wearing a sombrero was a real class act as well. I wish Oscar would have walked in with a bucket of chicken and a watermelon.

Mayweather is a punk, and I hope he gets in the ring with some MMA guys since he likes to talk smack so much about them as well.

Floyd's a good fighter for the new "fight not to lose" style. Hatton is perfect for him, he can run and pot shot all night and win an unpopular decision while fan's boo.

I'm a big Hatton fan and I hate Mayweather. That said, Mayweather is a great fighter who is very fast and has amazing hands. But like people have said he wins by moving and jabbing his way to victory. He doesn't really knock a lot of people out. I think Hatton sees this has his chance at immortality and he just might seize it. One thing is for sure, Hatton is going it going to come right at him and throw leather. He'll be in Mayweather's face all night. It should be an exciting fight.

hattons smaller than most opponents but he's still an undefeated two weight champ and 140lb ring champ. it's a good fight for both fighters and i fancy hatton for the upset.

if that shot that ko'd castillo, lands on mayweather it will stop him too. hatton is a lot stronger than i think you realise. urango although not a great fighter is a tank. hatton didn't look good in the second half of the urango fight but still won by 10 rounds. but you will see a different fighter on the 8th, he allways raises his game for the biggest fights e.g. koysta and castillo, although he'll need to.
