What about the numerous states that have 75 as the speeding limit? Is everyone in that state a homicidal maniac since that is the state law? Your view on this is incredibly limited to the California perspective....

Fletch XXX 09-23-2002 01:07 PM

Again, I was speaking of California.

Where I drive.

And I did say "80 +" where is 80 + okay?

more so based on the fact, over 70 you arent really in control you are keeping the wheels straight.

Montana has no speed limit during the day I believe....

And where is your factual data for this statement? I have no problem you saying it is your opinion based on your driving experience, but if you are claiming facts for everyone where is this wealth of knowledge coming from?

eru 09-23-2002 01:17 PM

No tickets yet but my christmas present (that im getting for myself b/c im a loser) is a 3000GT. Fucking NJ cops would chew me up with their strict-ass laws.

(thank god ill only be there for a few weeks)

Is it true that cops have quotas to fill on the amount of tickets they have to fill out a day?

If California has nothing to do with this, then Montana surely doesnt.

Fuck Montana.

And read up on that, they may not have a posted speed limit but speeds are enforced goofy.

What statement?

That fast drivers have small dicks and are insecure.

Hmm, I made it up.

I was just trying to prove to myself that I can get you people movin no matter what the topic is.

Including and not limited to speed limits.

hahaha

Funny.

phogirl69 09-23-2002 01:37 PM

I NEVER EVER drive freeways anymore... I haven't been on a
fwy for over a year. I am not afraid of driving, but of accidents and dying painfully.

I have heard horror stories of people being ejected from their card or being smashed to zillions of pieces due to car accidents, and it traumatized me... I just cannot drive freeways anymore. I always take inside streets whenever I can, and if it's not possible to go somewhere without taking the fwy, I just don't go... I stay home.

Even race car drivers have to drive the speed limit on the freeway. I really enjoy talking to people who think they are too good to follow the law, yet bash people who do.

Again, your logic is incorrect.

How many people have died on that Vegas stretch between LA and Vegas? I know of many, including Sam Kinison.

Havent went yet, still locked in my cave.

Despite whatever nonsense you shitters say, fact is.

When you speed You break the law. I don't.

You are wrong. And I am not.

hahaha

Now, el baņo

Rutopls 09-23-2002 01:40 PM

Your right Fletch I just checked on my montana fact and it changed in 2000 before that for 5 years, speed limits was not enforced during that time but driving safety was, such as weaving in and out of traffic. That was reapealed in 2000 and replaced with the standard 75 and guess what? Fatal accidents doubled that year according to the National Motorists Association.

And the factual staatement I was referring to is the keeping the car in control over 70mph... not the small dick one :)

And for the record I think there are times like when the entire road is empty that speeding is not a big deal, but when there is alot of traffic and someone is weaving in and out of traffic just so they can stay at 80mph that is a very different story...

As far as getting things moving, you havent upset anyone I believe, I for one just like discussing issues that I am interested in, so no real trick there for you :) With an average of 32 posts a day though I am sure you a trolling out there quite a bit to get people moving.. lol

phogirl69 09-23-2002 01:42 PM

And yeah, I know you can die in a car accident on inside streets as well, but I think there's a lesser chance of dying in a car accident on inside streets vs the freeway. I am terrified of getting in an accident and having to go through something horrendous like getting stitches, or breaking bones or dying!
So I NEVER EVER go on the freeway anymore because I'm too scared of getting in an accident or dying...

Sometimes I wish I lived in a small country like Holland where everyone just walks. Over there people can just walk to the
grocery store or to the bank, it's considered normal. No one walks like that in Orange County where I live so I have to drive,
but I try to drive as little as possible.

I have relatives that are like that in some areas, they will maybe get in their car once a week if that, the rest of the time they walk to where they need to go. No need to go to a different country for that, just gotta find yourself a nice neighborhood that has most things you need within walking distance...

Yeah, at one point in time I was so scared of driving I seriously considered moving to a different country... lol But it's a little better now.

I used to drive on the freeways over a yr ago though, before I heard the horror stories. And I HATE people that drive real fast on the freeways, I used to get kind of scared whenever they would just zoom past by me. I would always drive only 60 on the fwy and I always used to drive in the slow right lane. But I always felt like the person behind me was getting mad cuz' I was driving to slow and tailgaiting me and about to hit my car or something. :(

I see it all day in California. All day.

And these speeding guys dont see anything wrong with this.

The mentality of the herd.

When I was working as a bike messenger I got nailed for doing 65 km/h in a 50 zone. It was two female bike cops that got me with laser radar. They said they had to "Shoot" me like three times because they couldn't believe someone on a bike could go that fast lol!

Well, when you have a 57 tooth chainring going down to an 11 plus you have a "Super Hot" delivery to do, speed is the key baby! They thought it was funny as hell actually, but they had to give me the ticket anyway. I still have a copy of it somewhere...

I was late with the delivery, but my dispatcher told the client what had happened, so when I got to their office all the lawyers and secerataries were in the reception area waiting for me & I got a round of applause for breaking the speed limit to get their package delivered! I kinda miss that job...

Big E 09-23-2002 04:47 PM

Fletch, listening to you talk, I'm sure you hate my driving (without even seeing it).

I will tailgate, flash highbeams, stand on my horn, accelerate BRISKLY around cars that are in the way, and generally be a dick. But fuck it, some simple common courtesy and there wouldn't be a problem.

Simple rules to follow:

1) MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY AT THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC. Too many fucking assholes try getting on the freeway at 45 mph.. no wonder we have traffic jams and accidents.

2) If you're in the left lane and someone is behind, MOVE THE FUCK OVER. Why do you care how fast someone is going? They're going faster than you, so get the fuck out of the way. Remember, SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT! [This is my biggest bitch - I will sit behind someone, flash my high beams and honk at them until they move over - PEOPLE MUST LEARN!]

3) If you're not going to accelerate back up to speed after having to slow down, get the fuck out of the way. What's with these assholes leaving 1/4 mile between them and the car in front of them? It just pisses people off and encourages people to fill the void in front of them.

These simple traffic rules can reduce a lot of the problems on the roadway.

Brought to you by your friendly neighborhood roadrager..

Sorry but I stopped reading your post here.

You show no courtesy.

You will cause an accident one day.

Amen, lots of the traffic jams in Raleigh are caused by people coming to a dead halt before entering the freeway.. what's up with that????

Take it to court and claim you were harrassed into exceeding the speed limit by the irrisponsible driving of the tailgaiter. He had no right to threaten your personal safety by driving so close :1orglaugh

Personally I've never had a speeding ticket, not even on the motorbike and not even with all the speed camera's they have around here.

I've got a few parking tickets, but the fines are such a joke that it's easier to park where you want than finding somewhere legal.

Not exactly sure but go to mapquest.com and get an address for wherever youre going to in LA, there should be a [ ] checkbox somewhere for "NO HIGHWAY" etc, and it will give you the directions.

I think.

We just drove from Minnesota to Washington. As soon as we left Minnesota, we had the cruise control on 80 all the way across North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho. We had to slow it down a bit in Washington but otherwise the speed limit was 75 in most places. We saw one cop the whole way and that was in Idaho.

It took almost exactly 24 hours of straight driving (we took turns sleeping) to go from St. Paul to SW Washington. Damn I love road trips like that.
