I tried that with a flight from NY to Vegas about ten years ago. I kept waking up every 15 - 20 minutes thinking an hour or two had passed. It was the longest flight of my life. |

In Cambridge MA theres a strip (I think it's route 2) that has lots of bends and turns where the cars drive very fast and has only 2 lanes on each side with no guard rails. And on the sides of the road are residential houses with huge trees in front of them. The last time I went down that route I noticed that almost ALL of the trees had huge dents in them, probably from all the cars that have smacked into them over the years. |
don't be afraid,

Ah well, nevermind. :) I know that the driving school that I had learnt offers a motorway driving course... but if you're scared to go on, then it's understandable that it wouldn't help much. As for accidents, don't read this the next part if you're slightly squeemish. Just don't do it. :)
... There have been a few accidents on Bolton Road near my home. This isn't any kind of freeway - just a general main road where the limit is 30. It is called the A666... go figure. ;-) It can be seen on this map. One morning there was an accident where a guy had a heart attack whilst driving. Keep in mind that there are houses at either side of the road, and people walking on the pathway. His car drifted across to the other side of the road, hitting two people on the pathway and a telephone box. All three of them died. This was around the time I was learning to drive - the driving instructor I had was on a morning lesson when the accident happened. The police had blocked off one side of the road but traffic was still passing (slowly) on the other side. Apparently the paramedics had put one of bodies onto a stretcher and covered it with the sheet. As they were carrying the dead body back to the ambulence... the leg slipped and swung off the side of the stretcher. About a month ago there was another accident where an 8 year old kid was killed. Actually I was in the same class as his brother Brett at school about four years ago. A Porsche had collided with a motorbike (I believe the Porsche was speeding). The driver was fine, the biker survived... but on the other side of the road, the kid was with his parents coming back from watching his brother play soccer. The motorbike was sent flying into the at (I guess) around 40MPH and took out the kid with full force. For a few weeks there were flowers at the scene, and even now the police still have their yellow "ACCIDENT - can you help?" sign there. I remember this one especially because I was on the road on that particular Sunday afternoon and as I got down there the road was blocked off by police, with all traffic being sent back. Wondered what was going on but I remember thinking that it must be something VERY serious. There were ambulences and police cars speeding in from every direction. The kid was still alive after the collision but died at the scene from heavy injuries. :( |
