You don't always get what you pay for. If you have money to piss away to impress fifteen year olds (and CEOs), Alienware is fine.
Otherwise, throw 1/2 the money into a Dell XPS and get a machine you can actually use.

the only thing that makes me look at alienware is they were the only place I was finding with dual hard drive laptops and RAID available. The biggest weakness in laptops is the incredibly slow hard drives. You can put 2Gb or more in about any laptop these days.
Personally I said fuck it and spent half the money on an E1705 with stackable coupons ;) |

I prefer Sager, which is similar to Alienware. You can get two hard drives, bigger video card, and stuff like that. I'mstill using a laptop from over three years ago with a 17" screen etc and haven't had problems. It is more of a desktop replacement, and sucks to travel with but it runs like a beast
