Good fucking gawd I was not trying to cause an arguement.

I saw the very first picture and no others. I noticed it was a trolling seal aka fake seal that they pull behind boats to get nifty pictures and wow the tourists.

Yes I know seal island is covered with approx 60,000 or so seals at any given time and they are often shark food and are the reasons the great whites all hang out there. Well until the shad? or other fish swarms come in and then both the seals and the sharks claim amnesty and go on a feeding spree of the small fish swarms.

I also know there are indeed a few deaths a year caused by sharks and even by great whites. They still do typically just take a nibble and spit your shit out. Problem is some of their nibbles may indeed cut your ass in half. Though if you check the stats there are way more survivors from great white attacks than fatalities.

The oh come on portion was just a little playful sarcasm. Though I still stand behind rather being nibbled by a great white that nibbled by a bullshark.

Lastly yes the other pictures shown often do have real seals being attacked. However I still find it more interesting when killer whales go seal hunting. Not only do they beach themselves but they love to play toss with seals.

After Shock if you take a look at the other pics in the first link you can see its clearly a seal. I know they do use 'dummy' seals like you said but not in this case.

Also, down here in Australia theres been plenty of stories of guys who have been killed by sharks. Admittedly considering the amount of time we spend in the water the statistics are low but trust me a great white will bite your ass in half if he feels like it.

you can see the fucking line attached to it.

jesus

Jeeessuuusss. . .

Amazing video.

I have known men with cajones in my life, but I am not sure I have ever met anyone as brave (foolish?) as the man who crawled on top of that dead whale while the sharks continued to feed a few inches away.

Wowsers. . . .

I watched that video and that guy was a fool to get on the whale like that. There is no picture he could take that couldn't be taken from the safety of the boat. He gained nothing but a " Hey look at me " moment.

If he had slipped into the water on the far side of the whale I'm pretty sure he would have panicked, kept his head above water and found himself in a world of trouble.

This is a fucking great video!!!

The above featured video is one of the rarest of its kind to be caught on film. A 35 foot whale that died off the cost of South Africa was found washed up on a beach, the local police decided to tow the whale out to a near by island called Seal Island.

The whale had been dead for several days and was taken to offshore Seal Island, with in minutes there where already 15 sharks around the whale carcass. Shark after shark started to bite chunks of rotten flesh from the dead whale, the on looking researchers that had accompanied the police on this relocation of the dead whale could not believe what they where seeing.

The sharks seem to be taking 35-40 pounds of whale flesh in one single bite. With in 4 hours of the whale been relocated to Seal Island there where 27 sharks enjoying the deceased whale.

One researcher who entered a cage under water said to be shocked at seeing so many Great White Sharks lining up in one place to eat. Each shark is devouring 100's of pounds of flesh from the 12 tone carcass that was disappearing before the researches eyes

wow that was insane, they pretty much ate almost a whole whale in a day

Sitting on a floating whale corpse ... while 20+ white sharks are swimming arroud him and eating the dahm thing ... i mean ... WOW. How dumb is that? And yet how cool is that at the same time? That's a hell of a story to tell the grandkids :)
