The New England Patriots are the best football team I've ever seen

I hate to admit this, I'm a dolphins fan, but this year's New England Patriots are the best football team I've ever seen.
Better than Aikman's Cowboys, better than Montana's and Young's 49ers.

I don't think anyone in the league can beat them, it's like everyone else is fighting for 2nd place.

sorry no they aren't Lenny they are the best team and most dominant team in the hard salary cap era of the NFL which is a huge accomplishment. But before the salary cap you had teams able to keep all their talent together and hence true dynasties.

They are good, too early to call them the best ever. Let's see how they do against the Cowboys and some other solid teams down the stretch.

The fact that they're this dominant IN the era of the hard salary cap makes it that much more of an accomplishment.

They're having as good of a run, or better, than the teams I mentioned earlier, plus teams like the 70's steelers, and doing it in an era where they have to retool the roster every year.

They've won 3 of the past 6 superbowls and this year's team is the best one they've ever fielded.

yes i agree - the accomplishment is huge and their dynasty in this era is more impressive that previous dynasties BUT you are saying they are the greatest TEAM of all time - i would say that their accomplishments make them the best ORGANIZATION because they achieved it in an era where a team can't be held together and you have to re-tool on the fly.

But just look at the Steelers' dynasty rosters and I'm sure you'll see how impressive it is and how many have gone into the Hall of Fame. Who is going into the Hall of Fame from the Patriots? Tom Brady is the only sure thing.

Pats have a soft schedule.. only 3 games will be tough. cowboys, steelers, colts.

so at the worst they will be 13-3

The present team excepted perhaps, their past accomplishments are marred by the fact that they cheated, I think.

I don't think that's as big of a deal as ppl are making it out to be.

Or in other words, everybody is/was doing it.

Notice how no other team or coach really had anything to say about it? Only Mangini, and his feud with Belichick has been going on since the day he left for the Jets.

Nobody else in the NFL wants any piece of it....because you don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

Ok how about I say it this way.
The Patriots are a better team than any other in the NFL right now, and they're better than the rest of the league by a larger margin than any football team I've ever seen.

yeah that's what i was going to say - the gap between them and any other team in the NFL is huge - BUT there's still a lot of season to go and a few big games and no team is invincible.

NFL is kind of lame this year because of this - too many poor and mediocre teams and not enough elite. It's the Pats and Colts and then a big drop off. maybe the Cowboys are for real - dunno yet.

1 year wonder, not in the same league as these Pats.

We'll see how the season shakes out, but this Pats team has the best chance of going undefeated of any team I've seen. (although that's still not likely)

Yeah it's kind of like "Moneyball"

It's what the Oakland Athletics or Florida Marlins would be if baseball had a hard cap like football does.

The Patriots made some really good off season acquisitions that have definitely put them way ahead of there competition. I put my money on them as soon as they picked up moss, and I would still leave it there given the chance not to.

That's Mike Ditka's fault, the only coach EVER in the NFL who would rather see his team losing than give up the spotlight. That being admitted, the 85 Bears would stomp on ANY version of the Pats.

and may I remind you the quote is: :this year's New England Patriots are the best football team I've ever seen.:

85 Bears
89 and 94 49'ers
78 Steelers
92 Cowboys

Pats have one of the best sustained runs ever, great front office decisions, but I would put money on any of the teams above to handily defeat the best Pats team.

Well there's really no way to know....it's like arguing over whether Mike Tyson in his prime could beat Muhammed Ali in his prime, we're never gonna know but it makes for nice heated discussions over lots of beer

depends on if you consider the post 3 years on the sidelines cuz of evading the Vietnam draft era of Ali as his prime. Frazier beat him so the young ferocious Tyson could have beaten him too. I loved Muhammad Ali but I think he's been a bit overrated - tons of fighters gave him a battle and some beat him - Michael Jordan is his prime was tons better than his closest rival and I don't think Ali really was.

So after watching the Pats decimate the 5-0 Cowboys this past weekend, anyone still want to argue this point with me?

The Pats are un-fucking-believable, IMO the best team ever assembled.

Though this may end up being true it's still too early to say that. Still only half way through the season. And they would have to win the super bowl too.

the 85 Bears were a pretty impressive team as far as single season greatness

Styles make fights, and no fighter is bulletproof. Ali was coming off a long layoff when he lost the decision to Frazier, he was ready for him in the rematch and beat him easily. After the beating Joe took from both him and Foreman Ali thought he was washed up in their third fight, was unprepared and it was another war.

If Quick Tillis was frustrating for Mike, Ali would be murder for him. Also, Mike couldn't take head games. I'd give at LEAST 7-1 odds on prime Ali v. prime Tyson, on paper it's the worst possible matchup for Iron Mike.

we'll never know - you can't put them on the field against the great dynasties of yesteryear.

they are the most dominant team compared to their competition that's for sure.

They are basically outclassing every team they play. Period. Last week's game against the Colts was their first real challenge and they still managed to come back and pull off the win.

Today's 56 - 10 win over the Bills was nothing short of a shit-stomping. Next week against the Eagles will in all likelihood be more of the same. Ownage.

Pittsburg @ NE in week 14 is what I'm looking forward to. If they can't get it done then the Pats will probably go 17-0, unless the Giants pull off a miracle in week 17 when NE preserves some of their starters.

Want the Patriots knocked off their pedestal? Fine, one of the other teams in the league is going to have to man up and play better football than them for 4 full quarters. If none can do that then... tough shit. We'd all better get used to the gloating from NE fans for the next year.

All the teams that wasted Moss all those years need to feel like shit.
He went from catching every ball that Pennington threw him for 4 years at Marshall.. to wasting away at the Vikings and being a bitch at the Raiders...

Makes ya wonder what Pennington could've did if he hadn't shit away his life at the Jets...

I'm just glad to see Moss doing well so he can pay for all his illegitimate babies in Huntington, WV.. haha

The team that should be able to get it done is the Colts, although they got beat a few weeks ago (I still say due to a lot of injuries). We'll see how good they get when they are full strength once again, which hasn't happened all season. The Patriots have had the luxury of basically being at full strength in each of their championship runs. I am by no means a Patriots Fan (I hate them), but their run this year and their team is one of the most dominant teams ever, top 5 definitely. Having said that, I did grow up watching the cowboys and 49ers of old and after watching some of their videos over the pas few weeks, I believe the 92/93 cowboys and the 94 49ers could defeat this team.

What the fuck are you on? They set the nfl record for injuries 2003 and won the superbowl, then broke that record the next year and won the superbowl again. They had people from the offense playing defense in the playoffs.

I guess we'll never know.

Check this page to see what injuries the Pats have suffered this year... http://www.nfl.com/teams/injuries?team=NE

The injury excuse is really lame....every team has injuries every week, part of being a championship team is having depth.

The Pats were without Richard Seymour for several games and still dominated. How would the Colts do without Dwight Freeney?

I think the only player the Pats truly can't live without this year is Brady, anyone else and they can still keep rolling.
The Colts are thin though. Their starting 11 on either side is really good, but they have very little depth...which is why the Pats are a better team.
