I dont like either... There's a ton of shit to see in London though, Amsterdam is pretty touristy IMO (well, so is London ), and after seeing the 10th hooker and coffee-shop, its pretty much all the same...

I think you'll get an ok hotel room for that money in london if you use a site like hoteldirect.com. It won't be a huge room, but i've stayed at the cavendish for less than your budget and it was ntb really. You won't be in the room that much anyways if you're only in london for 2 days.
why wont you try both travel first to London for your first day and the other day will be at Amsterdam both locations are great and just enjoy everything
if you could put your interests away from jerkish ones some people heavily suggested here and come see the beauty of English parks, buildings and buses, London cabs and waterfront at the Themse.... I'm not telling you to skip Amsterdam but really, try London first

I know both cities very well and currently I live in Amsterdam which is my favorite! Besides the redlight tourist shit and getting high there is a lot more things to do. If it's your first time then you can start off with the tourist things to have a good time ;) .
Prague is a better choice... but I think the whole point is picking a city that offers a direct connection to Dubai.
I still say Amsterdam. London is just too fucking expensive with the weak Dollar right now.
It's so depressing to get off the plane and walk up to the currency exchange counter in Heathrow when you need money for the transport to the hotel and you hand them a $100 then get like £40 back.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

And then find out in the cabby that the ride to downtown London is more than
50 UK Pound Sterling
