I have a 37" LCD, and sometimes even that nis tooo big for the dvd movies that we rent. Most are hot High Def, and they look a little crappy.


But on cable or what not it looks awesome.

LCD is better if you want to hookup your computer, video games PS2,3 xbox etc. Less problem with image burn-in. Bigger the screen plasma is a lot more affordable.

i've got a 55 inch sony xbr plasma. had it for a couple of years, no burn in issues at all. i love it. and like someone else said, get a good sound system if you are paying that kind of money for a tv. i have a rotel system hooked up, as well as speakers in all of the bedrooms.
