Crappy television/radio shows which were at one point sponsored by laundry detergent companies.

Lilit 11-16-2007 12:56 PM

Well..I do work at home and I don't watch soaps, I prefer listening music...actually a hookah sometimes is a good stimulation:smokin

Yngwie 11-16-2007 12:59 PM

I can't remember the last time I actually watched a show on tv. These days the only things that my tv get used for is my xbox 360 and watching movies.

CDSmith 11-16-2007 01:12 PM

No soaps here. I used to be interminably hooked on Y&R because my girlfriend in the mid 80's watched it religiously and later I had a roommate who was also hooked. Couldn't get away from it and well...it's pretty addictive let's face it.

A few months from now will mark my 10 year anniversary in this business and I'm happy to report being soap-opera-free for all of it. I'd like to thank my sponsor and the good people at SA (Soaps Anonymous) for all the support and understanding.

When discussing the writers strike the other day, they were saying that these are the shows that will be most affected. The fact that they run 5 days a week 52 weeks a year, they will quickly run out of shows with only 20 shows on average in the can.

Some are even speculating that this could very well be the death of soaps.

Who knows. Last week CNN told me I was dying from MRSA, this week its from a new common cold super strain.

I only watch Breakfast Television <- Toronto in the morning and then I turn the tv off

BiggleJones 11-16-2007 03:03 PM

I try not to watch much TV when I work, but I always put on FoxNews (you read it correctly) first thing when I sit at my computer. After that, it's usually either Discovery or National Geographic. But I mostly just have music on.

qxm 11-16-2007 03:03 PM

The closest I've ever been to watching a soap is when I turn on the TV to watch Married with Children........cant get enough of those reruns ........I've got a thing for Peggy's sexy Legs.........yeah she turns me on.......

Peaches 11-16-2007 04:26 PM

I watched All my Children and One Life to Live through college and when I was a SAHM. That was 25+ years ago and if I forget to change the channel from the news and I hear bits and parts of it from downstairs, I swear they're still on the exact same story lines :)

emjay 11-21-2007 01:55 AM

I often have my www.slingbox.com on in the background, allowing me to have TV on my PC but I rarely stop and watch, it simply reinforces what a passive pastime watching TV is.

But there again, I don't work in a factory for eight hours a day...
