Adult Association ?

From a post by daddy halbucks.. ive been thinkings.. why isnt thee an adult association ? like.. the womens Institute.. protects womens rights ? (WI)..CAOR.. protects Chinese persons rights. OPA protects children's privacy online..

Im surprised nobody has at least tried to gain some support from the forums and the paysite owners in making the Adult Association ?

Any ideas ?

But you need a couple of program owners to say their word and that will hardly happen here as far as they don't want to hassle with some of the gfy's unique superinsane / mysoginic / keyboard warrior's ..

This is a great idea. Are you thinking of a lobbying force? Something that would promote Adult Entertainments agenda in from of Congress and state legislatures?

Now AlienQ even with you being off your rocker awhile you would admit this is far from a noob issue or idea. It has popped up time and time again. It has always been a great idea with the same stupid issues that kill it.

Quick run down:
1. People are to lazy.
2. People are short sided and think those warning of past bad times are chicken Little's.
3. People are greedy.
4. People are cheap.
5. People in this industry do not play well together in groups.
6. People in this industry can rarely be trusted and typically are more crooked than congress.
7. People expect positions tied to ego's and cash, so think American politics.
8. The majority want the minority to pay for it and deal with it, think American politics.
9. People in this industry have to much of a gangster/mafia/pimp glorification mentality so their goals and desires start out crooked and fucked.
10. Power corrupts and if you give most anyone in this business any power you are just about doomed.

Look at what happened to the FSC, ASACP as basic examples, but not only that this industry can not even get donations going without a conspiracy for simple cause what makes ya think that the industry could even come close to affording a Lobbyist...

I think we got 1 lobbyist fronted by the FSC. Maybe I dunno if that is still happening. But the fabric of the net does not allow for this to really happen whats so ever. Anyone can open a site there is no $ gain while only clearing the way for more competition.

Was also waiting to see what the proposed purpose of an association would be An association without aims is like a having a committee meeting with drunks. So far, the only suggestion has been a lobby group targetting legislature.

There could be a range of reasons for an association which would be of general benefit to webmasters eg - ally with third party processors who do present a biz model as evidence they will be in a position to pay webmasters should the processing company hit the dirt. There could also be a case for legal defense representation in an instance where a webmaster is basically complying with all laws and a prosecutor shows a desire to widen the goal posts and create legal precedents etc.

It may also be that the prime "managers" of an association are not necessarily directly involved or earning a living within the adult industry, but comprise a range of professionals drawn from varying relevant fields of expertise.

Will it happen? Doubt it - for all of the reasons you quoted in your post
