Her first car I bought her when she turned 16 was a new Eclipse. I do agree, that 16 year olds don't deserve luxury cars.
Sounds like your daughter and the car are a perfect match!

I was taught the value of money. I was never given any. So I learned to earn it.

That may be, but the post you quoted isn't really all that stupid. For one thing, most cars made since the late 90's have most of the latest safety features required for any car to be considered "safe" these days. For another, I don't know if it's teaching "the value of money" so much as just plain work ethic and the feeling that the kid accomplished something for themselves. At 16 to 18 yrs of age a car is probably the single largest purchase a kid that age would ever make, for most people anyway.

When I was that age I was no different, I too wanted a car. My old man said "You want a car? Great, go get a job and earn one"

          Which I did.

I was even able to take out a small loan ($1200 I believe) from my bank, which I paid off in 1 year. The car: a steel-blue '74 Chevelle Malibu. That was in 1980 that I bought it, and although it was my first car I can tell you it meant a great deal to me. A great deal.

I don't begrudge my dad one iota that he didn't just go out and buy me a car. I realize others have different circumstances in their family and lives etc, but it' s been my experience that every time I hear about a parent buying their kid a new car it always ends badly for all concerned. The kid invariably just doesn't value it like they would if they had had to work for it and aquire it themselves, and they end up smashing the gift up.

I'm sure there are exceptions out there, and exceptional kids. I just haven't known of any, that's all.

Maybe it shouldn't. Work ethic is a valuable thing. Instilling it in your kids is even moreso valuable.

That said, I'm sure Minte knows what he's doing.

it doesn't exist that show......there is the show where Jeremy Clarkson
raves about the 2007 RS4 and where he says several times...this is MUCH
better than any M3......b.t.w. the Audi isn't double the price of an M3
An Audi RS4 in the UK costs 50K pounds sterling......I don't believe you
buy a 2007 M3 in the UK for 25K pounds sterling

I love the Audi A4 Avant. In my opinion Audi has better quality than BMW and in Germany Audi was voted the best car brand 3 years in a row.

I'd go for the BMW btw. Everytime. But if she wants an Audi, take her to the dealership and let her test drive it, then take her to the BMW dealership and let her test drive that too.

btw, totally cool what you did for her man! Much respect.

If I ever have kids, I'll be making a deal like that with them, such as the one you did with your daughter. Sounds like she's making you proud, she sure deserves a nice car. Sounds like you got a good one there!

I second that. She's going to think that everything will come easy to her if you keep buying her stuff like this.
