I think you should let her buy her own car. What is the point of you handing her something she might not be able to afford on her own.

What if she changes her mind and becomes not the attorney you thought she wanted to be. A better lesson would be to help her buy one. Negotiate one with her budget not yours. This is a nice gestuer but not the smartest one regardless of if you can afford. Be thankful you have the time to actually teach something of value for things not reward her for doing what is expected.

Minte 11-10-2007 04:33 PM

She's a college student. She can barely afford tennis shoes.
Besides,it's an Audi not a Aston-Martin. It's a low $30,000 dollar car.

Maybe i'll get her a Lamborghini Spyder for the summer. Then GFY can really have something to chew on.

Go for a sexy Alfa Romeo.

Actually I think this is one of the few instances where I would consider getting my kid a car. I mean here you have a daughter who is doing her part and showing pretty huge initiative going to law school. My own parents certainly weren't shy about helping me out during the few times in my life when I needed it.

Although they never bought me a car they DID help me out financially one or two times, not the least of which was when I injured my back at work back in '97 and had to seek an entirely new career for myself. It was a time of crisis and huge change in my life, and I'll never forget the help they provided me.

No, in this case I think Minte's doing the right thing. He's proud of his daughter and not only wants to help her along but wants to reward her for all the initiative she's shown. It's not everyone's kid that goes through law school, certainly not everyone's kid does exceedingly well amongst those who DO go.

Maybe she'll go into internet law and we can all hire her. :D

I hope it is as good a winter car as advertised. She has to drive country roads nearly 50 miles each way to the court house. And the snow is just around the corner.

bu((aneer 11-10-2007 09:16 PM

Fuck the car, post a pic of your daughter! ;)

sltr 11-10-2007 10:17 PM

BlueDesignStudios 11-10-2007 11:51 PM

Bods4Mods 11-11-2007 12:10 AM

Sounds like a great car for a great girl. Good job Dad!

cutievids 11-11-2007 01:22 AM

get her a used car... your gallardo :)

bausch 11-11-2007 01:55 AM

I'm bitter because my parents never bought me anything nice growing up. Seriously. I'm still bitter about it. I get annoyed when I see parents buying their kids nice shit. I wish I got some nice shit growing up. Ugh. I really am still bitter about it.

I bought my first car at 18 years old and my mum paid half of it for me so I could afford it. She also never charged me money like all my friends parents did while living at home :)

fishbone 11-11-2007 06:51 AM

if anyone would like to buy me a bmw, i could be persuaded to accept.
i might even be willing to paint your house.

salesman 11-11-2007 07:53 AM

I like the design of AUDI, their cars are really nice, sporty. If I had that money, I would prefer an AUDI instead of a BMW. everyone else has a BMW, why should I ? :)

Minte 11-11-2007 08:34 AM

This is what the car we got looks like. I didn't take a camera so this is from the Audi site. It's metallic gray Quattro with all the packages and a 6sp. I'll grab a few pics this week. We are picking it up tuesday.

It wouldn't stop the act of the car getting stolen, but it probably means she knows better than most how to go after the criminal and how to claim insurance if the insurance company start getting funny.

By the way, quotes are b0rked.

An Audi RS4 in the UK costs 50K pounds sterling......I don't believe you
buy a 2007 M3 in the UK for 25K pounds sterling :thumbsup

You DO realize there's a new M3 on the market with a high-rev'ing V8 and 420 bhp?

It took until page 3 before someone posted this.

GFY is slipping.

Minte 11-11-2007 01:53 PM

The odds were pretty good that wasn't going to happen.

Miss Vanessa 11-13-2007 04:30 PM

My friend has an 05 audi A4- she only has 30k miles and has already had to replace some expensive shit on it, I can't remember what it was but I remember thinking, wow, your car is sooo new and doesnt have that many miles.

I would reccomend a Honda accord coupe, that's what im holding out for. Hondas have great re-sale, better than any other car on the market, plus they are really reliable and require little maintenance.

I think it's awesome that you are looking to buy your daughter a luxury car, I know that if my parents could have afforded to do that for me they would have. It doesnt mean that your daughter is going to be spoiled, you know her character better than anyone else.

I would buy her something with less horsepower than the A4 - I know they are not fast, but the faster the car, the faster the kid will end up wrapped around a tree... I have seen it happen so many times, and the kids are "always great kids and never drink or do anything wrong and get As in school" Get her something slow and safe like corolla or something. And if she complains it's not an A4 take it away.

Corleone 11-13-2007 11:46 PM

its a great car

BlueDesignStudios 11-14-2007 02:52 AM

post pics please :)

Ryan St. Germain 11-24-2007 02:16 AM

I ended up picking one of these up today. Got the quattro cabriolet. I have had it for 5 hours, and some german girl dazzled by the casinos rear ended me.

My sister is also a college student. She works a full time job night shift and attends school during the day. She pays for her own car, rent, groceries, everything. Not thats it's easy but it can be done.

Point being that just because somebody goes to college doesn't mean they can't make their own way.
