I was bored and had $20 sitting in epass, So I decided to...
...get one of those virtual webair accounts to see if it's as bad as everyone says. I'll post my experience as a reward for you for wasting 2 minutes of your time reading this. |

 | Immediately had a problem adding domains, but some dude named ketan on their live support chat thing took care of it. Problem solved in less and 5 minutes. Apparently I needed a control panel update already lol. |

 | Can't really do anything 'till my 2 domains I have pointing to the account finally "propagate" or w/e... Taking long as hell. Might be monikers fault and not webairs for all I know, i'm just a noob. Control panel kind of sucks for me compared to direct admin, which is what I'm most comfortable with. |

 | This could be a good idea - get a few of us GFYers to try out a host every month and post an honest review of them.

 | Your plan comes with 24x7x365 support via live chat, phone and ticket system. For contact methods click on support in your control panel. Let me know if you need anything added to your plan or have questions regarding it. Tried hitting you on ICQ as well a few times but haven't heard back from you. |

I'm probably just going to put up a whole bunch of autoblogs for a while to test their downtime everyone complains about. If it goes good then i'll move some sites I've been wanting to move away from hosthead over to my webair account. Hosthead is great and they're support is awesome, but I just wanted to be able to have more than 1 dedicated ip on a cheap virtual account. Hosthead doesn't have that and the sites I have with them don't need a dedicated server.

 | I'm having no problems with webairs virtuals at all. Ok, they're down sometimes but not that as much as it would bug me. Support is fast and friendly. I still like hosthead better for virtuals, but they are much more expensive.

 | Maybe I should've posted a thread... I signed up for Webair and have been waiting over 24 hours for a peep from my support guy. He's not on ICQ, not on aim, not responding to e-mails. I'd really like some help so I can actually use the hosting I just bought, but I guess it's just whenever they feel like acknowledging me?

I gotta admit, so far so good with webair's cheapest virtual account. Still in the process of figuring out exactly what I want to do with it, I keep changing my mind.

 | i never kiss anyones ass and i don't know the webair crew or owners in any way , never met them never contacted them. i have had a small virtual account with them for years and never had a problem.. i built my own custom script that checks for uptime 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. they are one of the most steady virtual accounts i have used , and i have used or use almost every one of the top gfy hosts

 | I put 2 simple sites up on webair. No scripts, SQL, nothing. Put 2 links into wikipedia just to give them a taste of a little tiny bit of traffic and 4 hours later my sites are down and a rep is telling me I used up too much processor power and I gotta upgrade. I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER SEE WORSE THAN SERVAGE LOL. |

 | OK, well when I asked the rep to find out exactly what cause the issue he bounced out the live chat box thing and somebody else came in with this... "I'm not able to find anything solid as to why it happened" and then... "looks like apache had a hiccup, typically this doesn't happen, however when apache restarted it didn't kill the existing processes which were defunct and therefore was unable to restart" Might be true so I guess I'll still mess around with the account some more before I drop 'em... |

 | I cancelled the account... Game over. Really wasn't THAT bad. I developed 6 sites with them but decided to move them over to one of my other servers for convinience. Only had 1 instance of weird downtime, which is better than I can say for my virtual accounts with other hosts during the same time period. This was a short time, but based on my experience I can safely recommend webair's virtual accounts for small static sites (which is what I had with them). I must say this though... 1. Expect initial weird problems. such as the ones I posted in this thread... 2. Expect their 24 hour support to not be online sometimes... 3. When you submit a ticket, you will get multiple replies from a bunch of different people durring the span of about a week for the same ticket, even after the problem has been resovled already. |
