Guitar Rock hero has made me into a rocker

I've never played this, on the surface I'd think it would be dumb. Whats the gameplay like, I love video games and I love to rock... what am I missing, should I go play it?

Avenged Sevenfold had a tune on GH2 that rocked. They also just released a new album last week I think. Both of them rock...hard.
