whats the PRICE for YAHOO, DMOZ ranked sites/domains?

I have the chance to buy domains of yahoo listed (and dmoz) websites. some are mainstream categorized.

what should i pay for them?
how much worth is PR(4,5,6,7,8)?

thanx.

Getting any listing on yahoo (even if it ranks dead last) gives you PR=2. Dmoz another 2. So if you got a domain in both, that's PR=4 or so.

So if your buying sites, I would say about $800 for PR4. PR8 is bloody fucking hard, I'd say around $5000+. Everything in between, take a guess, depends on you and the owner...

PR = PageRank
System of measure on Google.

It's a search engine rating system for link popularity

Come to think of it, I would pay much more than the original $5000 I posted above for a PR=8 site. PR=8 sites are the class of CNN, Amazon and other huge sites like that. Sex.com is only ranked at 5 to give you an indication.

Just note that if you change the content, ie. transform them into adult sites, the sites contributing to the PR may remove their links.

Depends on the types of inbound links coming to those sites. You say mainstream, so I hope you'll be using these domains for mainstream business as well.

Here's the scale I use to assess value in domains:
80% or more of X inbound links with the link text containing the same phrase, definitely buy it.
Lower than 80% and it becomes a judgement call, but at $100 a pop, fuck it, buy them up. A PR=4 basically is a Dmoz/Yahoo listing which costs $600/year now anyways.

The link text is the most crucial part though, if its tons of unrelated text in the link text, then it kinda diminishes the value though.

Hope I was clear above, I've been at the office for 16 hours straight so I'm kinda exhausted...

From what i know the max ranking for an adult page is 6. Just check out biggest linklists... pk.com, link-o-rama.com etc.

While I have believed that Google does penalize adult websites in the past, it is in theory impossible for Google to penalize every single site that is growing in ranks. It is possible to give penalties based on keywords, but this also penalizes legitimate non-adult sites.

The best I've done to date is also PR 6, but I have seen 7's around. Nothing higher though. Then again, 8,9,10 are all the top sites like Yahoo, eBay, and Google, so if you can get any of those top PR ranks, your the best of the best.

Just remember that your PR depends on the backlinks. So if they're not maintained with the new ownership, you've just lost whatever you paid .

Buying dmox listed sites is OK so long as you either leave the content the same or the category has a very slack editor (but the editor will *eventually* remove the link if it shouldn't be there).

Just become a dmoz editor. It's not that hard

Best explanation of page rank:
