NORRISTOWN, Pa., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A judge said Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid heads a "family in crisis" as he sentenced Reid's two sons to jail Thursday.
At separate hearings, Judge Steven O'Neill sentenced Garrett Reid, 24, to two to 23 months in jail and Britt Reid, 22, to eight to 23 months, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Andy Reid and his wife were in the courtroom for both hearings but had no comment.
O'Neill described the Reid home as a "drug emporium."
"There isn't any structure there that this court can depend upon," he said.
The brothers both got into trouble in January. Garrett Reid was involved in a car crash and told police he had used heroin that day, while Britt Reid waved a gun at another driver in a separate incident. Both were jailed for violating conditions of release.
Garrett Reid, who allegedly tried to bring pills into jail hidden in his rectum, told the judge he wants to get off drugs.
"I don't want to be that kid who was the son of the head coach of the Eagles who was spoiled and on drugs and OD'ed and just faded into oblivion," he said.
