Who likes Morrissey and the Smiths ???

Old school, but I still listen to it. Brings a lot of memories and thoughts how stupid I was.

"How Soon Is Now?" was the theme song for my summer of 1984 (oh come on, please don't tell me that I am the only one that has summer theme songs).

I worked at a new wave club. The DJ didnt come to work until 10pm, so while I was setting up I was the bar boy. Part of my job was to start the reel to reel which he had music on it til he showed. How soon is now was the first song on that reel.

I knew there was a bond between me and you. Now can I come over and play with you Asian dolls??

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me ?
When you know, oh
Why do you come ?
Why do you telephone ?
And why send me silly notes ?
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry

Great song.

Always liked Morrissey's cover of the Jam song That's Entertainment":

"A kick in the balls, and that's all you get...that's entertainment!"

Yeah, they weren't bad.. one of those bands that a lot of my friends had, and still sometimes listen to at drunken parties but I never really bought any of the stuff.. I was more into the Cure at the time.

"Charlotte Sometimes" (Live) from the Live In Paris disc is one of my all time favorite songs.

"At Night" from the same disc kicks ass too.

Fuck I love that song. Good album.

Actually my wife just put Mixed Up in the car stereo yesterday which I hadn't heard for ages and we ended up just driving around listening to it fairly loud because the previous couple of cd's doing the rotation for the last week just didn't hold a candle up to it when it came cracking on with it's 1990 synth beats lol.

Funny how 20 years later the legacy still lives. Will anyone remember Nine Inch Nails or Nickleback?

Classic..

Take me out tonight
Where theres music and theres people
And theyre young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I havent got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and i
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please dont drop me home
Because its not my home, its their
Home, and Im welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I dont care
I dont care, I dont care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought oh god, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and i
Just couldnt ask)

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I dont care
I dont care, I dont care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I havent got one, da ...
Oh, I havent got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

I'm not sure about Nickleback, but Trent Reznor definitely made an impact with NIN...

Pretty Hate Machine came out in 1989 (only five years after "How Soon Is Now"), and I still get goosebumps everytime I hear "Head Like A Hole", with it's lyric, "I'd rather die, than give you control".

And there is hardly a more visceral rock anthem than "Closer", with the lyric "I want to fuck you like an animal".
