My thoughts? Our troops are suffering from really low moral, don't have a defined mission, and are being given WAY too many tours over there for way too long a period at a time.

It's easy to get the idea troops need to be gunning down the "enemy" 24/7, but most folks are no enemy - they are just the same the world over and tend to have fun at times.
If anything, and it is prob crucial on a bigger level, it shows "communication" and a relationship with children, and, tend to give the young guy some cred for taking time out to play with the boys.
"Communication" has always been a big problem with US forces (not meaning to critize em - just a fact) and it would go a long way if this was fostered, not in a phoney "you are ordered to communicate", but more on a personal level. Good cops do it or anyone involved in "people management" and they can end up with friends for life. Hell.. might be worth having a military course on "communication and relationships"
