Production on the next Broken Lizard movie starts in january...

Hell yeah!

Quote:
The Broken Lizard comedy troupe will begin production of "The Slammin' Salmon" in January with indie financing.

Kevin Heffernan will direct and co-star along with Broken Lizard members Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. Story, to be penned by the troupe, revolves around a restaurant owner and former heavyweight champ who pits his wait staff against each other in a "Glengarry Glen Ross"-like competish.

Richard Perello will produce for Broken Lizard with Julia Dray and Peter E. Lengyel serving as exec producers.

Broken Lizard has a deal at Warner, but raised the coin for this project independently in order to get it into production before a potential SAG strike.

"We wanted to go back to our independent roots and get a project off the ground and into production quickly," Heffernan said.

Broken Lizard is developing "Ambulance Chasers" and an untitled project under its first look deal at Warner. It also has set up "Taildraggers" with Participant Pictures and "Pony Bush" with Dimension. Earlier projects include "Beerfest" and "Super Troopers."

Super Troopers is one of my favorite movies and I'm probably one of the few that also really liked Club Dread. Dukes of Hazzard sucked (but wasn't a *true* BL movie), but then they rebounded nicely with Beerfest....I can't wait to see what they do next.

It will also be interesting to see what happens with Heffernan directing instead of Chandrasekhar...

didn't care for their first 2 movies(yeah, I thought Super Troopers sucked), but Beerfest is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.
