A misunderstanding lead to gunfire at a local park. Now, a father is dead and his killers are on the run. It happened Saturday night at Martin Luther King Park which is near Carey and Nellis.

Denise Rosch tells us how this started with an accident at the swing set.

Faustino Sigala thought he was doing the right thing by pushing a little boy who wanted help on the swings. But when that child accidentally fell down, his mom got angry and, according to witnesses, a group of men jumped a fence, ran to the swings, and attacked.

"They have no idea what they did. They just destroyed a family," the victim's wife, Marisol Sigala, told News 3. It's a reality no one can quite explain to the two little girls in pigtails: What happened to daddy and why.

For the family of Faustino Sigala, a Saturday trip to the park turned tragic all because of a minor mishap that was quickly blown out of proportion.

"He ran around. They were throwing bullets at him, and then that's when they hit him in the leg and he fell," the victim's niece, Anna Rodriquez, explains. "He tried to get up and couldn't, they started shooting him."

Rodriguez says her uncle was at Martin Luther King Park celebrating a relative's birthday. He had been pushing his own son on the swings when another little boy wanted help, too. "He was pushing him on the swing and the little kid fell down and his mom said, 'who did it, who pushed you down?' And he said, 'him (Faustino).' He didn't say it was an accident, he just blamed it on him," Rodriquez said.

Rodriguez says that mother became enraged and started screaming at Sigala. It was a commotion that caught the attention of a group of men gathered nearby. According to witnesses, as many as six of them rushed up and someone opened fire. All of it happened right in front of Sigala's kids.

"The oldest one, who is ten years old, saw everything," Marisol Sigala explains. "He's a little zoned out, he doesn't mention anything and he just tries to pretend nothing has happened. She doesn't know if he probably needs therapy."

Despite the number of people in the park that night, police have little to go on. Only that the men were all African-American and wearing dark clothing.

Sigala's family tells News 3 he wasn't only murdered, he was chased down and executed.

Also, the street lights around the park aren't working, thanks to a copper thief who ripped out the wiring. So it was darker than usual around there Saturday night. Another reason, perhaps, that the suspect descriptions are so vague.

As for the mother of the little boy involved in the swing incident, she ran away right after the shooting. Police think she knows exactly who pulled the trigger.
