Why are seemingly intelligent people . . . .

blaming the wildfires in CA on Global Warming?

On breaking news, it is getting windy out here again. In fact, last week when the fires first started we had no winds here at the beach, so I wonder what it is like in the Valley.

I'd rather they blame it on global warming than on al qaeda like Fox News has been doing.

I'd love to see an argument that the fires were caused by global warning, instead of a disturbing combination of lack of natural clearing and arson...

Who the fuck jumps on these bandwagons... jeebus...

Every fall there are fires... and every fall it seems like the majority of them are arson related. It's really pretty ridiculous.

As far as I'm concerned... any guilty party should be strung up for the world to see and let them bleed to death by leeches.

You mean the firefighters, the forestry service, and all those people out in nature all the time?

Face it climate change is here, it is happening. Argue all you want on if it is a natural cycle of the planet, partially man made, or all man made.

Strange how 60 minutes ran a special on just that issue and then wham the fires. Hmm interviewed the forestry people and all, spoke about the ongoing draught conditions in CA, NV and area. Same draught conditions that make it a damn tender box.

Though I know how rational and logical debates go around here. Screw real data and such, ignore anything that goes against what is in the realm of possible, and never ever alter ones beliefs. Yes beliefs, because few around here have ideas or opinions and just follow blind gut faith that conforms with their own needs and desires in this world.

So to answer your thread question, because they are intellegent.

It's not global warming that is to blame. It can intensify the problem, sure. Wildfires in California follow a roughly predictable pattern. It's nature's way of regenerating the brush. The problem occurs when development permits are issued for places that are prone to this cyclical (and -discounting arsonists- natural) pattern of burn - regrow - dry up - burn.

IMHO

It was definitely Osama's doing, I wouldn't doubt the CIA was involved too.

The fires aren't caused by global warming they are however a possible consequence of it.

Needs to be proven, but they were probably started by dumb retards who then got off watching the fire spread - a common pastime in that region.

On global warming - na global warming is cold (according to Stickyfingerz) - could not cause fires. The eco-senstive govt claims it's a myth because it will affect the economy, but CNN have been linking global warming to the fires all week - they must be unpatriotic.

terence trent derby said "blame it on the rain" - clouds rubbing to cause lightning strikes thus starting a bushfire. I reckon it could also be David Caresh (escape artist, cult leader) seeking ultimate revenge. Hell, why not???
