NOTHING like Orion, Damage Inc., Dyers Eve and other of those priceless classics. I'd say I'm disappointed, but that would be an understatement. Fuck it, I'm gonna play the old stuff right now, to cheer me up. |

I have been watching Metallica videos on YouTube off and on all day. haha Just watch Cliff play Orion. I wanted to cry. They need him so bad. I think they will do it. It's in them. You don't lose talent like that. You can get blinded for a while and misguide yourself but it is always in your soul. I think someone just needs to give them a good ol' fashion ass whipping. Bring them back to the garage and play. |

Seeing/listening to that new crap seriously depressed me. :( |

But I totally agree that they watered down their sound (compromised it tremendously) and lost their original fan base in the process. Their choice... |
I think Metallica got it right a long time ago. That's why you know who they are right now.

clifffff

If they do put out something that goes back to their roots (doubtful for more reasons than just that their aging arthritic fingers aren't as nimble anymore), it'll likely be a one-off album. A treat for their initial fans but not something to expect for each album thereafter. Why? They're middle-aged businessmen now.
The fact is that their 'sellout' album was the one that sold the most, and allowed them to buy the fancy cars, big houses, and have their pick of pretty girls worldwide. That's why after that album we got more of the same - songs that were weaker, shorter, and more radio friendly. I feel they'll make a business decision based upon on how sales of albums since then have been, and what they expect today's music buyer will buy. Their albums now sell to more than one generation of listeners; there are even young listeners who prefer their newer stuff (lol). They're not hungry teens anymore. They're parents and used to a luxurious lifestyle. They're going to do what they think will put more money in their pocket. |

I do not think much of that is true. The music is in them they can do it, over the years they have just opted not to do what thier fans have expected. Hungry teens has little to do with any of it, they got talent and I am sure Hammet could still play blasting solo's like he did, if not better today if the band and producers gave em a chance. |
napster kill metallica some year ago
|
i wish they can, still they r one of the greatest Metal bands from the States.
I started listening to them at the age of 11....and still do :D |
they need a new base player
we cant bring cliff back, but Jason is clearly missing on the new stuff I must admit however, this one is not so bad http://musicvideolinks.net/thrash-me...k-in-progress/ |
maybe james just needs to stop singing :)
|
cabby just told me they're playing tomorrow in mountain view
and they're opening their set with "Orion" imagine that ! |
It all went downhill after cliff died, as i have always said if cliff didnt die metallica would have still been good.
|
Ding Ding....we have a winner. He needs to stop singing and go back to the metal sound. He sounds too fucking happy and cheerful singing.

Well, theyre fucking loaded now so they should go back to making long, hard ass fucking songs. If they dont' get it on this one though, might as well hang up their guitar picks.:Oh crap |
Yeah unfortunately they did say that before St. Anger too. Cool video of Metallica w/ Guns N Roses playing in a club. Axl stage diving etc:

I doubt it, they lost a lot of their fans when they went after Napster. Maybe their sound will be like what it was, but their fans aren't want they were
|
I think its hard to do angry music, once your rich.

metallica still kicks ass live, playing all the classics every time |

They can never return to their roots because they are too far removed from when they were young and angry. They have evolved too much to create the music that defined them. That's not to say that I wouldn't still see them live, cuz they can still rock! |
SO COME ON!

new stuff sounds good |
You have got to be fucking kidding me. You're saying those two songs are better than anything ever put out by Megadeth? Have you actually heard anything on the Peace Sells album? :upsidedow

Nobody could touch them up till Master Of Puppets. They lost it after that.
|
Megadeth has alot of hits.
Symphony of Dstruction, Foreclosure Of a Dream, Peace Sells... Dave Mustaine is a great writer, and still has some great hit's to put out in the new album. Mustane was a loss for Metallica in a way, as I think Mustane is actually a better Lyric writer than Hetfield. |

Another example of people who don't know when to just give it up already...
|
Lars ruins the band.
But still, Master of Puppets was so fucking MONUMENTAL! Sooo good. Why should they try to go back to their roots? Their hearts are obviously not where their roots are. They should go further away from their roots. They should try to make music that sounds like Neil Young. Or just get rid of that crybaby Lars. |
I think they have lost the Eye of the Tiger...
