Honestly, I had a similar offer back in 2000. I took the guy up on it, he thought I was talking smack about his company, but when I showed up to his office and said it to his face in front of his employees...I did give a fantastic presentation along with it too...he gave me a job on top of the $5K. It was a nice turn out for 2 days of "work."

No, I didn't "hate" him. He ran an online auction site, and he didn't take constructive criticism too well.

He thought I was talking smack, and figured I would not show up to his office to "disparage" his company to his face.

He offered $5K to show up, and he paid for my travel expenses too. I went, and basically he let his ego go and realized that what I was saying was true. He liked it so much, he paid me to work for the company as a "consultant."
