and the moral of the story is....

youporn is not making money. it's just getting traffic.

give me 100 million dollars to give away and i'll give you a top 10 site by giving away $10.00 bills to everybody who visits the site once a day for a month.

Of the $120k/month, I wonder what AFF pays them thru etology. My estimate puts it at 50% or higher, imagine if they pulled advertising what would happen...

i paid $900 for the front page ad spot, and it wasnt worth it, so this article confirms its really tough to monetize that site. also, why hasnt anyone come out with a totally free dating service, its gotta be easier to give away free personals, than to give away free porn - less bandwidth costs also. with the type of thinking of the youporn owners, you can do a lot of destruction to business. give away everything for free, incur all the bills, let it grow out of control, and try and sell it to the next owner at a 15 year multiple and hope they can profit off it, let alone the legal issues.

When I read stories like this I laugh. What has a company like VIVID done to better their position in the online adult sector? Nothing

With all of their deep pockets, traffic and branding; they haven't done crap over the years.

The same goes for a lot of companies like Vivid.

First it's an MGP not a TGP, but that really doesn't matter. Why would I expect you to kiss my ass?

Don't get pissy at me bc. I expressed opinion and you didn?t like it Mr. ?General Manager?

What has Vivid done in the online sector to increase their branding and over all around market presence in the last few years?

On the tech side Vivid has made strategic partnerships in VOD and we were the first adult company to securely offer download to burn technology. We've also coded our entire affiliate program and paysites from the ground up. You will not find 3rd party software anywhere on our sites. Anyone who has worked with us over the past 2 years or so can tell you how quickly and easily we are able to integrate on B2B apps -that's excluding the people we've had to blow off

On the affiliate side our tracking platform has allowed affiliates access to extremely detailed and accurate reporting. Our in depth knowledge of merchant processing, risk management and great banking relationships have allowed us to push throughput much higher than programs processing on 3rd party accounts. We also provide custom integrations into our backend as well as data feeds to affiliates who need them. Billing models and payouts can be custom fit to meet any particular deal.

We've publicized celebrity sex tapes to the mainstream press better than any other adult company in the past (in my opinion) and have allowed our affiliates to capitalize on this exposure. Our press has appeared on Perez Hilton, TMZ and the Superficial more than any other adult company's. KimKSuperstar on a good day does more joins than entire programs that advertise on this board. Affiliates pushing traffic know how easy it is to convert the site.

We've partnered with many companies and have our upsell model down to a near science. We are able to leverage thousands of joins per month in trades, and not just in cross-sales like many companies. We can usually win any contest.

We handle a lot of traffic buying in house but we do not compete with our affiliates in a lot of places where it is possible for us to. Any of our affiliates that we do business with know that they can contact us at any time and their issues are resolved quickly. Try and find someone that we actually do business with talking shit. You won't.

just to clarify...that 120k per million would be as if they did 5 million hits daily, multiply that by 120k for the month. Not 120k per million per day.

Okay so we are on the same page. Over the past several years Vivid has added...

Stats Tracking for affiliates
Buying Celebrity Sex Tapes and making websites
VOD

Now before you think I was bashing Vivid, I've never heard a complaint about the company etc etc. IMO, you guys could do a lot more to obtain a bigger chuck of the market place.

Thanks I was confused

So 1million hits per day average over 30 days would = 120k PER MONTH
5 million hits per day would = 600k PER MONTH?

I'm not going to bash any other studios but we are bigger than most all of them online. Offline obviously as well.

Our directors are now starting to shoot content that is much more web oriented. I don't need to get into details or be one of those guys that says 'just wait until you see what's coming', but a lot is planned for the near future.

I think Vivid wont go near it for two reasons, one if they dont take off all the free unlicensed content given away they are wide open to all legal bullshit because their arent in sweden and secondly people go there for free porn 30 min clips, they take that away kiss the traffic goodbye.

I think it is 120k a month because if it was 600k they would be asking a whole lot more than 20 million.
