It really has nothing to do with the ownership. Wayne Huizenga has always been willing to put up the money and get out of the way and let the football people do their thing.

The draft has been the biggest problem. Several shitty drafts from the Wannstedt/Speilman and the Nick Saban regime (Randy Mueller was just a figurehead during Saban's reign) have left us with an old defense, an offensive line that wouldn't be backups on most teams, and a lot of young players that aren't living up to their promise...

Wayne doesn't give a fuck he raises ticket prices every year, and puts out a mediocre product. All he cares about is his bank account.

How can you blame Wayne for putting out a mediocre product when he has no problem opening the checkbook for a coach or a premier player? When everyone thought Nick Saban was going to be the second coming he flew out to LSU and got the deal done. He shelled out a shitload of money for Joey Porter and didn't complain one iota, even though that has turned out to be a horrible move. Wayne does what a good owner should do, shells out the cash and gets out of the way of his football people. He didn't give a shit about the Marlins, but he definitely cares about the Dolphins...

Bad management. It doesnt matter if Wayne spends $$$. Spending on BAD non-impact players, coaches, talent scouts and GMs is the problem.

A season ticket is ~$77 per home game now. $30 for parking and the Dolphins have been shitty for 10 years. Long as the revenue is coming in Wayne could care less. Fill in the same for the Marlins & Panthers.

Yes it has been bad management, but you can't really blame Huizenga there. He is an owner and not a football guy, so he does exactly what a good owner should, spend the money and get out of the way. When he owned the Marlins I agree he didn't give a shit after the first World Series win, but he honestly does care about the Dolphins. The revenue is coming in but he has no problem dishing it right back out. I lived outside Cincinnati almost 10 years, and that was the epitome of an owner that didn't give a shit prior to Marvin Lewis being hired as head coach. Mike Brown had a bare bones scouting department and was constantly under the salary cap but just pocketed the difference...

I agree 100%....fuckin guy is charging the fans like he has a superbowl contender. We are the worst team in the league and will be so for the next few years.

They made the right move there. They need to build for the future, and the only way to do that is thru. the draft. By the time they are a playoff team again, chambers will probably be in the twilight of his career. They might as well get something for him now when he has some value.

I'm amazed sometimes reading the comments on articles at the Miami Herald and similar sites of fans who want the current coach and GM fired.
They've only been on the job a few months for crying out loud.

This team is alot worse than people thought it would be, but only people living in fantasy land woud think a team that has no players left from the 2000, 2001, 2002, or 2003 drafts could have the talent or the depth to compete in this league. Those drafts should have produced 15-20 players that would form the core of your team....instead we have zero from there and have had to fill the roster spots basically with guys that weren't good enough to make other teams.

It's going to take a few years of solid drafts and player development to get this team back to playoff caliber, but I really like Randy Mueller and if you look at his track record there's definitely reason for hope.

I agree, we need the draft picks and Ginn needs the playing time.

I only wish they could have traded more guys for picks. Unfortunately with the way contracts and the salary cap work, it's really hard to trade players without fucking up the cap for both teams.

Given the Dolphins track record of evaluating talent and drafting... Its going to be a long time.

I said Randy Mueller's record. This is his first year as GM, if you look at his record you'll see solid success.

You can't say "oh the dolphins drafted bad for years so they're not gonna make good picks going forward" when the guys who made those picks are long gone.

Draft next year will be a windfall the more they loose.

That way they can go shopping in Hawaii.
Get June Jones as Offenisve co.
Get Colt Brennan #1 pick
add 2 of his WR's (Bess, Rivers, Mullen)

And Presto you have the Miami Warriors.
