SEO Gurus - I got a question.

Could adding 500 unique SEO'd pages in one day set off a Google spam alert? The pages have all uniquely written content in different categories.

It *could* yes, but it depends on how well established your website is on Google.

you mean adding 500 unique content pages on your website in a day?

I'd say no, it will not set off any spam alert.

Hope this helps...

Shaze if the content is relevant to the meta tags ect... and you are not keyword stuffing and messing around with linking schemes then I would have to say NO besides unless you have every page in its own directory then most likely they will not get indexed with the exception if you point sub domains to such...

ex. ( PS. URLs don't work... just an example... )

www.example.com ( the index of the root will get indexed... index.html... )

www.example.com/ex1/index.html ( this too will get indexed )

www.example.com/ex1/ex1/ex1/ex1/index.html ( Would most likely be seen as spam... )

Whereas

www.example.com/a1/b2/c3/d4/index.html ( would not be seen as spam as a directory example... )

www.example.com/a1/b2/c3/d4/whatever.html ( may not get indexed unless you have a subdomain pointing to such... )

GFY has their threads getting indexed and they are using .php as to create dynamic webpages and they get picked up just fine by the search engines and they have many thousands webpages... I do not know if dynamic websites using PHP gets indexed like what subdomains do or if GFY has each of their threads automatically assigned to a subdomain... I am not sure... ask... I know I would like to find out... Ask ICE he is the admin here, and seems to be a nice guy.

I would be careful who's advice you take here at GFY... Contact Google directly via email and they will confirm what I am saying.

Later,

.

if its really unique and not generated bullshit, it might look good. but 500 is overdoing it. even with the best markov engines LOL ;)

Google's algorithms look for unusual behavior and this doesn't fit usual behavior for a website. No one will be able to tell you definitively whether you tripped an alert and got penalized, but it's certainly a possibility. Deep linking to the new content may help however.

"Could" it, of course.

"Would" it, most likely.

500 a day is not natural.

Better be safe, just spread it around, and release 5 pages per day over the next 4 months... It has added benefit that google will see that your site is constantly updated....

Short answer is yes...

BUT

it really depends on how G currently regards your site and how you are planning to set up the directory structure as well as the quality of content.

To be safe i try to meter releases of large amounts of content to appear natural to G.

I've found through past experience that if you dump a ton of new pages on a site it takes much longer for G to give love than if they slowly seep in, most often a massive dump will put the pages in the supplemental results for quite a while but they eventually end up in the regular SERPS as long as they are quality.
