Start Up Budget of Social Networking Sites?
I've read this article somewhere but for the fuck of it - can't find it nowhere. It had the start up budgets of all major social networking and other community as well as video sharing websites there. As far as I remember, YouTube had some $300 million to get off the ground, FaceBook got half million from former CIA agent, etc. Does anyone know where I can find this information? Links?

I may be off, that's what I'd like to see some references, but it's been somewhere in that ball park.

Well, it went like this. Some kids put together a proposal for YouTube and approached a number of rich people and organisations. When they got $300 000 000 together, they initiated works on the site and promotion through MySpace etc. I don't know how much exactly it was that they got, but it's in that neighborhood.
Anyone knows these figures exactly? |

Wow dude, you are not even close. Sequoia Capital led the first and second VC rounds for youtube. Together, they were about 12M.
Amazing, what some people will believe and not bother to fact check.... |
