I think also for the kids its the lack of activity that technology has created.I remember as a kid the greatest punishment was you werent allowed to go out.

Oh come on, you can't be serious. The average poor person in the Roman Empire, like most people in ancient times was short, slender and slightly muscular, perhaps with a little paunch from working manual labor for hours per day and eating moderately healthy food. That's if they were lucky and they weren't existing on the edge of starvation.. You can't compare the exceptional cases of how the Roman senators or wealthy individual Romans ate or lived.

You're talking about the average poor person in ancient Rome

The Romans were fat too....it's a side effect of being the richest, coolest, baddest mother fuckers on the planet TYVM. :pimp

Americans are the richest people on the planet, and also the fattest, as were the Romans in their time.

I said we're fat because we're rich, just like the Romans, and you say NO NO poor romans weren't fat so you're wrong.

It can also be the hormones in the food. And lack of exercising.

I bet that the fast foods have a big percent of the guilty.

a) The US economy is tanking.
b) entire US communities and neighbourhoods don't have access to fresh fruits, veggies, or meats (google: food desert)
c) the cheapest food available is boxed dehydrated crap dreamed up by scientists, not nutritionists.
d) deceptive advertising re-assures parents that sugar cereals are good for children and tv dinners are good for their families. (see new fruity cheerios and Hamburger Helper)
e) the US education system is failing, pumping out children who can barely read or use critical logic. How these people are expected to make good nutritional decisions without being taught by their parents or teachers is unknown.

What did they expect would happen??

Nobody wants to take a few moments to take their kids out to the park and just let them sit in front of the tv and play video games. Nobody wants to do any work here, plain and simple.

lazy? that's putting it lightly.. hell, these days most people will get in their fucking car to go get the mail 10 feet away.. I'm disabled (leg disability and walking is EXTREMELY hard for me to do), but guess what? how do I get around? (go to the mall, bank etc..).. I use a pedal bike while people who can walk without a problem use their fucking cars to drive 10 feet away..

Ya, biking is hard for me to do due to my leg disability, but I still do it even in winter when it's -30C outside. To top it off I eat VERY unhealthy, drink coke all day everyday and smoke heavily, but I'm far from fat. Sure, smoking will kill me eventually, but fuck it lol

New Hardee's breakfast burrito has 920 calories

St. Louis — The people who brought you the Monster Thickburger and the 1,100-calorie salad are at it again — this time for breakfast.

The Country Breakfast Burrito is two egg omelets filled with bacon, sausage, diced ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns and sausage gravy, all wrapped inside a flour tortilla.

Hardee's on Monday rolled out its new Country Breakfast Burrito — two egg omelets filled with bacon, sausage, diced ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns and sausage gravy, all wrapped inside a flour tortilla. The burrito contains 920 calories and 60 grams of fat.

Brad Haley, marketing chief for the St. Louis-based fast-food chain, said the burrito offers the sort of big breakfast item normally found in sit-down restaurants with an added advantage.

"It makes this big country breakfast portable," he said.

In 2003 the chain introduced a line of big sandwiches, including the Monster Thickburger. The 1,420-calorie sandwich is made up of two 1/3-pound slabs of beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered bun.

Even Hardees' chicken salad — topped with onion rings and crispy chicken — has 1,100 calories and 83 grams of fat.

The chain does offer some low-calorie options, including roast beef and chicken sandwiches.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a Washington-based advocate for nutrition and health, has called the Hardee's line of Thickburgers "food porn."

Haley makes no apologies.

"We don't try to hide what these are," he said. "When consumers go to other fast-food places they feel like they've got to buy two of their breakfast sandwiches or burritos to fill up. This is really designed to fill you up."

The government's Center for Nutritional Policy and Promotion recommends a daily caloric intake ranging from 1,600 calories for sedentary women and older adults to 2,800 calories for teenage boys and active adults. Hardee's sees its core customers as young men ages 18 to 34, Haley said, though it expects a wider range for breakfast items.

The Country Breakfast Burrito is generally available for $2.69 by itself or $4.09 for a combo that includes hash rounds and coffee.

Damn that Monster Burger was the shit back in the day...I didn't know they even had Hardee's anymore. Thought they all got switched over to Carl's Jr...3 patties, cheese, hold the mayo, and some bacon...goddamn, I wish I could eat those like I used to...I miss those days :Oh crap

I really don't understand how everybody swears that everyone in the US is fat, lazy, and out of shape. I don't see that at all, of course we have our share of fat fucks and lazy fucks. I think we may have more than other countries because we have a higher population than most and are richer than most...that combo combined with our culture and way of life contributes to the fat factor. But every country has their fatties and their lazies...seems like everyone is content with sitting on their asses pointing fingers at the US saying this, that, and the other. Everyone one of you that do can fuck off...I love it here and you would to if we gave you a visa...but you can't get one so you're butt hurt, get over it and deal with your life as is. :2 cents:
