we live in an awesome time compared to the time my grandparents grew up...the technological advances we see from day to day just blow my mind.

However, I find it rather disheartening, that I will not live to see the day where we will find a way to visit places like this.

Good point. There's probably other definitions of "life" outside of "organic" or carbon-based/water-based lifeforms.
