I always found myself asking the same question. I think it all depends on traffic quality and the content on the site you are promoting. With targeted traffic I tend to do revshare as the rebills are generally good. With traffic that isn't so targeted I will do PPS. Also, if the sponsor doesn't update the site very often, you can assume retention won't be that great so it might be a good idea to do PPS. This of course differs from sponsor to sponsor.

Sometimes it might be good to start with revenue share, see how member retention is, and base your decision off of that. But if you are getting like $30 CPA, you could make $30 off of that person if they rebill only once ($15 avg/month depending on rev percentage and monthly fee), then have the opportunity to earn additional money on them if they continue their membership. I've heard some webmasters say they got out of Adult years ago but still get checks from rebilling customers.

i use 'em both. some sites - usually large sites that update regularly or micro niche sites - rebill like crazy.

Pay per join always. I want the cash now, and not take a chance on some program disappearing, or finding an excuse not to pay(remember AC, and a few others?).

Depends on the program. If they won't give you access to the member's area, then PPS all the way.

For quality sites like Naughty America, Revshare is like having a money tree that grows every month!

If the site has very good content and is frequently updated... then rev share.

                other than that... PPS :D

Depends on the site and the size of the niche.

Some even large sites in major niches like teen can still be more profitable via rev-share. (rare)

So most large company sites, always PPS unless they are special like above.

Now any small niche or whatnot and show me they update often I am all about rev share. I know how long micro niche and fetish sites that are devoted to a given niche retain.

Lastly if you can tell a site is made for PPS, always go PPS, take the consoles whatever. Just do not promote it with your prime bookmarker traffic or they will leave you.

As for the whole 50 or now 60 percent thing. Watch that one anyways. Some do it out of not knowing better or thinking it will give them an edge gaining affiliates. Others may be hiding the full fee they could pass on to you and you could be making less than 50, others may split that fee.

hmm im surprised by the responces...like i previously stated ive never advertised for anything but pay per sales and always thought revshare was going to make me less in the long run....i was obviouslly a little to close minded in my thinking because ive read some valid points here on using revshare

These type of responses always baffle me.

If a site sucks so bad that you don't think it will retain members, how do you think they can make enough money to pay you $35+ per signup?

A site is either good enough to promote or it isn't. Once you've figured that out then you just need to decide if you want less money, but all upfront, or more money but over a long period of time.
