Paying for the license of a DVD film

I'm creating a new site about a very specialised niche. There are only 2-3 studios who have dvds about this niche. Their films aren't sold on content stores. I asked how much they ask for licensing of their films. They didn't give me a price, instead told me to offer a price instead.

How much would you offer per DVD max? I have no idea about this. Never created a paysite before.

I haven't paid more than $200 for a DVD, most of the time buying them for $99.

Offer in that range and go from there. If they don't bite, bid a bit higher until they do.

I think the MAX you should offer is around $500. Considering it's not such a "mainstream" niche..
