Question for the Veterans: Are you still getting traffic from old free hosted pages?

This question is for all the guys that were in adult before 2003.

Back then free hosts were REALLY popular. I'm talking about the ones with banners on the top and bottom of your gallery. Yeah, they were ugly but back in the late 90's and early 00's bandwidth was so expensive tons of people used them and most TGP's accepted sites that did.

As a matter of fact, using some of them like King Host could help you get listed on major TGP's.

I bought a dedicated server from day 1 (big mistake, but that's another story) and never used free hosts unfortunately. I really should have, or maybe not... that's why I am asking this question:

For those of you that used Kinghost, Sexplanets or one of the many others are you still getting any traffic from those galleries?

    Are the pages completely gone?

    Are they still up?

Who fucked you and who didn't?
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

    Webair, bitches.

I'm not that old school... but most of my "porn money" from this year came from work done long ago. So... you guys that are new, do not get discouraged. Keep building and watch all of your work stack up month after month, year after year.

Yeah, we agree on that Sly... but the question was about free hosted pages specifically.

How's your traffic breaking down? Was all that work done on a free host?

hahaha ok well freehosts were built to semi screw you regardless, some just more gently than others. I had used some early on but not exclusively, just for high traffic one off sites like a gallery. I know the host I used to use for that was sold off, oddly though I am again hosted with them now
Do I still get traffic from them, no. However I still see a stray hit from some non adult free host from long ago. Be it AOL, angelfire, etc. Though those are damn damn rare.

Whoa! I totally forgot about the non adult ones. I haven't seen an Angelfire page in eons!

I wonder what happened to all those Terra.es pages that ALL the big movie galleries were hosted on?

Very well said Sly. I'm constantly talking with new webmasters that sign up with us, and one of the main thing I try to preach to them is do NOT get discouraged "This is a marathon not a sprint" are my actual words.

Well After shock, if your not happy with your host feel free to hit me up. First of all I would like to say that we AREN'T A FREE HOST We just have an alternative billing model. We get paid when you get paid (to put it in a nut shell, and we have been around for 6 yrs now so if there is anything we can do for you let me know). We provide all the usual services a regular host does including unlimited bandwidth and storage, state-of-the-art servers and routing equipment, FTP, CGI, PHP, PERL, Mysql and Word Press. All major scripts webmasters need to successfully promote OUR approved sponsor are supported.

Alot of old school Webmaster's always tell me the same thing "Why go with Revshare when bandwidth is so cheap these days" I like to tell them that they are correct bandwidth is cheap, but the great thing about using our services is that we are essentially are a Robo form for your adult sponsors, and the best part about us is come TAX season you only get one 1099 instead of having to sift through all the abundant 1099's you receive from all the sponsors you promote.

With that said I would also like to tell the new webmasters. We are hosting with NO UPFRONT COST. So if you are promoting sponsors via galleries, and or blogs you REALLY owe it to yourself to check us out.

Umm what I said was the free host I used to use was sold off, oddly though I am now hosted with the same company that sold them off. They are not a free host anymore at all. Things evolve in this business. They were a free host and now they are a leading hosting company. I used to tinker with free hosts and had virtuals over at xxx webhosting and such and evolved on myself to new hosts and dedicated boxes.

Personally I hate free hosts. I just tried a few for some silly high bw pages way way back then.

I used them all the time back in the days. Used to use Cherry something, the guy that ran Adult Check owned it. Can't remember the name. Then some other little ones that are gone now.
