I went through this with M$ last week. Hungry is right, you have to restore your computer or just format C like I did to return to the way it was. Microsoft is hard lining the file traders. They are also making it harder to get the DRM SDK's to add signatures to your files.

I think this might be the one thing that saves Realplayer.

A couple of us have posted already about this fiasco with WMP9.

There appears to be big problems with password protected movies.

Check the microsoft beta newsgroup (I forget what it's called but you can find it on the Microsoft support site) and you will see that lots of people are having these problems.

This is still a beta, hopefully they will fix it.

I had to restore my machine to get rid of that piece of shit.

If you're installing BETA software (ESPECIALLY FROM MICROSOFT) despite all the warnings, and it ends up biting you in the ass, you shouldn't be bitching about it... you did it to yourself.

I must have missed the other posts regarding this. Luckily I installed the WMP9 tonight and was able to remove it with the system restore. Wasn't much of a headache since I removed it right away. However anyone who has had it installed for a while is looking at a big mess.

I'm off to bed now. I've sent out a few emails trying to find a solution to this. I'll post any info I find out in the morning :thumbsup

The Beta version of the Media Player does not have support for HTTP Basic
authentication. Please see this article for details:

Hey Shap.
Just checked our latest video galleries and they all worked fine.

Why not embed the mpgs as we are doing? That seems to override the problem.

About nastys or our other stuff, I had to do a right click 'save as target'. Straight download wouldn't work. We'll see tomorrow...

I just tested my MPEG's and WMV's on our members area, and there is no problem at all ?

Everything works fine....

Shap 09-17-2002 08:11 PM

Hi Guys. I'm still looking into this. It's really weird. For some people everything works fine. For others only mpegs don't work. For others Mpegs and wmv don't work. I'm not quite sure what is causing such a wide variety of results. I'm guessing it must be the settings. I haven't found anything in the settings that would change the Access Denied problem. Do any of you know if you make changes to the server configuration if that would help?
