Are Canadian cigarettes safer than American cigs?

I was in Montreal and had lunch with a couple there who both smoke.
I light up a cigarette, just a camel, and the woman was coughing and her eyes watered. She said they were too strong and they bothered her.
She and her husband smoked, but they had Players canadian cigarettes and I smoked one of hers and they were really light and faint.

so I was wondering, are canadian cigarettes safer to smoke than the heavy american ones?

I'm a non smoker, but they say that if you smoke light cigs, it makes you wanna pull stronger to satisfy the need hence you are actually absorbing more bad stuff than with regulars. But that's not a scientifically proven fact. Just what smokers say

I know they have Fire-Safe cigarettes there, might have something to do with their potency, not sure though.

They are safer because they cost so much no one can afford to smoke enough to get cancer. After that, no.

Not safer, just probably more chemicals to numb the strong tobacco flavor.

American,Canadian, and European smokes are all made to a different blend,American cigarettes seem to have a stronger cigar type smelling/tasting tobacco...compared to canada/europe ..nothing to do with how safer they all are....

Most cigarettes are safe if you compare them to attempting to light and smoke a stick of dynamite

It does make you want to pull stronger and to inhale deeper.

Yes, Canadian cigarettes will give you cancer after 11.1107 years of smoking, whereas American cigarettes will give you cancer after only 10.8734 years of smoking.

Not sure about cigarettes, but Canadians are surely safer than Americans.

Could have just been the kind they had. There are many Players cigs.... regular, light, extra light and so on.

Therefore someone smoking extra light could have found that regular were way to strong.

The most damaging thing about cigarettes is the smoke constantly filling the lungs. And tobacco creates a heavy, sappy smoke that lingers.

Think about how long the smell of a cigarette stays in a room, compared to a joint for example.

So it doesn't really matter what kind of cigarettes you're smoking. Chemicals, more or less nicotine, those things get you hooked faster, but they aren't nearly as dangerous as the smoke itself.

I mean, think about it, you are literally inhaling smoke, a substance you would generally avoid if it wasn't wrapped in a very appealing delivery device.

Now where did I put my Marlboros?

If you jump off the roof of a building that's 8 stories high, you probably have a higher chance of survival than jumping off the roof of a 12 story building. Odds are that the result in both cases will still be the same though.
