FACT: Racism will never go away...EVER

You cannot change something I believe is inherent in all of us, and that is fear of things different than ourselves.

I honestly believe over time it will only get worse...why?

Because we continue to try to force diversification when it goes against our very human nature, we are animals, and I just don't think it's something that you will ever change.

Sure, because we are "more" intelligent than most other animals, we try. We try to look past the things that make us different, and we try to pretend as if we aren't different, when we are, and you can't change that fact.

The more we try to pretend white people are the same as black people, or that men are the same as women, I think the bigger divide is created.

Instead we should acknowledge we are equal in the eyes of the law, but there are definitely traits that make us different.

To do otherwise, only creates more animosity.

To continue to force people to accept those outside their "tribe," only creates more animosity.

We went from a society where we lived separately, to forced integration over a very short period of time.

During that time, we all tried to get along, and things were fine. But, it is my opinion that this melting pot that we have created has too many cooks in the kitchen, and just one too many spices have been added.

In just a bit over 40 years we have had to accept the fact that whites, Hispanics and blacks would have to not only work together, but to live together, and then to spice things up we've added numerous other races since then, and now Homosexuals want to be tossed into the mix.

I am sure you will have those who will argue that immigrants have been coming to America for hundreds of years, and yes they have.

But, with each new immigrant that entered this country, you had your new "n*gger."

Whether it was the Chinese, the Irish, the Italians, whoever. They each had to overcome the resistance the established communities put up to keep the new outsiders, just that...outside.

Now consider this. If you can't get two groups who each descended from white skinned Europeans to get along. People who not only look alike, but even share some cultural similarities, then how do you expect people of different races to get along?

You can't.

My point is not that racism is okay, it is, what it is.

I am not even saying that we should accept it, that it should be allowed. I am saying that it will always be here, and there is nothing you can do about it.

You can attempt to educate people, but you will not change something that you were born with. You will try to rationalize why you should be accepting of other cultures, other races, and in your head it will sound all peachy keen and you will feel good about yourself as you profess you are not a racist.

While deep down, you will fight the urges, that you as an animal were born with.

You will also smile as they continue to make new laws, forcing you to accept yet one more person, one more race, one more religious belief, one more confused sexual identity, in the name of diversity.

But deep down you will resent it, and it is this, that will ultimately be our undoing.

racism certainly will never go away! If anything it's getting worse.. you only have to look to the High schools to see it. Kids are becoming more and more racist everyday, & the fact that young black people still bring up the whole "it's because I'm black" thing pisses most other races off, and just causes more animosity. in 20-30 years there will be a racist civil wars again.

They think racism whether it be rational or irrational fears of something different than us can be educated away.

It can't. It goes against defenses that we developed over thousands of years of evolution. And now, just because we have the interwebs, and television, we just pretend it shouldn't exist.

Racism is a form of discrimination based on race, even if we where all white/black/brown/yellow etc etc we would discriminate against each other based on other factors, maybe because on social status (we already do discriminate because of it), its human nature (sad but true).

Discrimination will never go away so we can assume Racism will never either.

There's, nearly without exception, less genetic deviation between any two humans anywhere on the planet than there is between two chimps randomly picked from the same tribe.

The only noticeable differences between us are the ones that we invent ourselves, and generally have a lot more to do with culture than the color of one's skin.

To encourage any mindset that pairs behavior with physical characteristics - on a racial scale - is the epitome of ignorance, I think.

And yes, we'll always have ignorant people.... but that doesn't mean we should accept the expression of their views for any more than it is - plainly stupid.

This is something I was briefly touching on.

In the 70's, racism was pretty prevalent, people were very open about it.
In the 80's, amongst my peers, family etc., racism was discussed, not professed.
In the 90's, we all wanted to get along, Rainbow power, hold hands sing Kumbaya and all that shit.
Now in 2007, me personally I went from loving Mexican culture, the food, the women, and supporting some form of legal immigration, to I just don't give a fuck, you lost my support.

It's the same now with a lot of white people I have come across. In the 80's and 90's they wanted to learn, they wanted to get along, and they gave an inch at a time, but were expected to give a mile.

Now, they don't want to care anymore, they don't really want to learn. Too much was expected of them, too much was asked of them, and they're fighting back.

Yeah, PunkRockXXX.... "ever" is a very very very very long time... and considering that mankind's only been here in the last 3 days of the universe's analogous 35-year-old life, I think we have a bit of time to get things figured out a bit more.

I'm a big fan of the idea of everyone having lots of sex with everyone else until we all pop out the same color, and maybe then put this crap behind us... but I'm afraid it'll be something like the "people who can roll their tounge vs. people who can't roll their tongue" at that point... stupid people are always looking for something to direct their insecurities towards, I think.

I have to agree with everything you said. Race or culture will always separate people. It always has... and when this planet is all one race the new racism will be against another planet or life form. The reason is as evident as any other thought brought up here. It is because you cannot sympathize with something you are not. Just as you can like something about another person or race you can hate something too. The act of being a racist is a fine line however. It is clear and fair to say that a black person has dark skin or an oriental person has thin eyes. But to say that an Asian person is a bad person just because they are Asian is not clear or fair. If it were not for race it would be based on culture, if not culture then style if not style then taste, it all boils down to the fact that people have different likes and dislikes and they gravitate their lifestyles around them.

I personally would not have children with many races... does that make me a racist? No it is my taste. If I hated someone for having children with one of those races that would make me a racist. The fact racism will always be a part of life is as evident as eating will always be a part of life. But as with anything in life there needs to be balance and as much as it is great to have so many other cultures to enjoy so must there be a downside to having such diversity. The problem with racism is more of an issue in melting pots like America because of the way the melting process was handled.

"racism" is a loaded word where the meaning is continually twisted and contorted to mean anything the user wants it to mean.

if you define racism as showing preference to ones race over another, thats not something that will ever go away.

if you define racism as the idea of thinking one race is inherently better than another by some measure (be it right or wrong, rooted in fact, myth or ignorance) then that is not likely to go away ... it will always be a question of degrees.

if you define racism in the "deep south, cousin fucker" common usage of the word where one insists one race is inferior to another - i.e. "blacks aren't as smart as whites" or whatever... thats a behavior that relys on ignorance to survive.


at the end of the day, if i put you (assuming you're white) in a football stadium with 75,000 black people - you will feel FAR less comfortable than you would if it was 75,000 white people. the same could be said of any race in this situation. that preference or uneasyness doesn't have to come from a bad place you know... its just programmed into us as a basic survival mechanism. most cultures and societies and religions and social groups go to great lengths to distinguish themselves from others through language, dress, traditions and cultural traits and identify as groups... saying thats not true is silly beyond words. and likewise, they all are more likely to show preferrence to like people (same dress, culture, physical traits, language, habits/behaviors). its a safer place to be and your chances of survival increase dramatically.
