its because i live there :pimp jokes apart, you should visit it |
Going to be in rome in the morning.
I did alot of investigating beforehand. Watch out for the gypsies, dont check your luggage, wear a money belt, dont look like a tourist, dont photograph the gladiators, dont talk too loud and draw attention to yourself, plan EVERY route ahead of time, etc etc... Italy has been great so far for us. Spent 2 nights in Venice, woke up today and took a train to Florence. Saw the statue of David before catching another train to Pisa. Had that spaghetti dinner by the leaning tower I dreamed of when I was a kid. |
If you ever decide to return to italy stay away from touristy areas like rome... sure there's a ton of history there, but there is so much more to italy. the smaller towns are much more welcoming, the food is 1000 times better, and with a little research you'll experience just as much history and culture (if not more) as you would in a tourist city like rome.
Some of my favorites are: Cinque Terre, San Remo, Sardinia, Lago di Garda, and my favorite Bassano del Grappa - home of the grappa. :thumbsup |
I've had great experinces there the times I've been. France on the other hand... :helpme
|
Geeze, I think everyone has been in Italy this past week! Those of you posting here and know 2 other groups of adult biz folks who have been traveling there.
I wanna go to Lake Como |
Hey dude try philippines... many BAbes there.... and very hospitable country...
|
That reads really funny but I can imagine how distressed it must have been actually living it. Totally screwed up.
|
Rome has been good so far, despite some guy posing as a cabby trying to rip us off about $25 on cab fare. We caught on before getting in the cab, thanks to reading up and planning ahead of time.

That is basically how I travel even when I am just going somewhere in the states. As in if I go to New York. Hotels HATE you when you get your room for less. Go through the hotel and use the VIP check in service. Completely different experience. Also get a rental if you don't want to hire a driver. At least that way you have control of your costs. Don't expect a big room just about anywhere in Europe UNLESS you are willing to pay the penthouse rate for a normal sized room. |
I've been a few places around Italy, including Rome, and never had any problems (the only scam was sitting down for a slice of pizza which doubled its price, €1 was no biggie). I liked Rome for the history, the stuff I read about as a kid, although other places were better for relaxing.
Sounds like you had some bad luck :( |
Sue Rome!!!!!!

|
This is why Man U beats those mofos from Rome in Champions League football!
Philistines... |

I was thinking of using these people to plan a trip there
http://www.perillotours.com/ Expensive but maybe worth it to have the tour guide taking you everywhere. |
after living in a few tourist towns ive come to learn ...there all basically crap...money pits ...worthless t-shirts and coffee mugs...overpirced food and laodging...and usually transient party type people working there....if you want to travel its better to not go the tourist route..stay right outside of the areas you want to visit......never sign up for any type of motor vehicle tour...if anything rent a car ,boat or moped and follow them to the spot.
|
I was waiting for you to tell this one... lol
Geeze sorry to laugh though you spin it funny... and I guess that's the only good thing that can come of a bad trip like that - knowing that in the retelling you lighten our hearts and brighten our days with laughter... or maybe not. |
I went for a week this summer (rome>florence>venice) and I left thinking in general a lot of the italians treat tourists like shit. I am not uptight about this stuff but I got realy crappy service and felt ripped off at restaurants more than once. I probly would have kicked off if I hadn't been with my GF and not wanted to ruin her trip over a bit of cash.
Its not an anti american thing I mean I am english its just how they treat visitors. I'm sure its not all Italians but I left thinking they were a bunch of rip-off cunts who are exploiting all the great old stuff their country has. Its well worth going to see all the stuff though just be aware they will try and fleece you! |
